Used 2022 Hyundai Sonata for Sale nearDenver, CO

How much does the 2022 Hyundai Sonata cost?

Prices have softened 7.69% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,983 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Sonata a good car?

Yes — the 4.75/5 user rating and 8/10 expert rating both point to a strong overall package. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

The 2022 Sonata fits you well if you want a midsize sedan that leans on value, quality, and a strong warranty rather than flash alone. It also offers a surprisingly sporty N Line variant if you want a more engaging drive.

The trade-offs are straightforward: its design may not appeal to everyone, and all-wheel drive is not available.

Good and great deals make up 34.5% of listings, so you still have room to shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Sonata reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Sonata’s appeal for reliability-minded shoppers starts with its strong value proposition and the sense of quality described in the model overview. It also pairs that with a quiet cabin and a broad set of standard safety features, which can make day-to-day ownership feel reassuring.

On the mechanical side, the Sonata’s powertrains are described as competent and calm in normal driving, with the cabin staying very serene on the road. Hyundai also includes three years or 36,000 miles of complimentary maintenance, which helps reduce early ownership costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is choosing a car whose condition and maintenance history don’t match its strong reputation.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Hyundai Sonata?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any car you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re looking at a higher-trim car with more equipment to check. Focus on overall condition, feature operation, and signs of wear that could affect value later.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SE is well equipped, but higher trims add meaningful comfort and convenience features, and the N Line brings a more aggressive look and sportier cabin details.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder is paired with an eight-speed automatic, while the turbocharged 1.6-liter and the N Line’s turbocharged 2.5-liter add more punch; all versions are front-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, driver-attention warning, automatic high-beam headlights, rearview monitor, and Rear Occupant Alert. SEL adds blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-centering assistance, and Safe Exit Assist, while Limited adds a blind-spot view monitor, rear park assist, and surround-view monitor.
• Infotainment: Base models get an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while higher trims move to a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation, wireless device charging, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: Combined fuel economy ranges from 32 mpg in the SE to 27 mpg in the N Line, with the SEL, SEL Plus, and Limited at 31 mpg combined.

Which 2022 Hyundai Sonata trim should I buy?

The 2022 Hyundai Sonata is offered in 6 trim levels: SE, SEL, SEL Plus, Limited, N Line, and N Line Night Edition.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the value-focused starting point, and it already gives you a strong equipment list with LED lighting, an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, adaptive cruise control, and a rearview monitor. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry price and don’t need extra luxury or tech.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a power driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, satellite radio, and key driver-assistance upgrades. It also becomes more appealing because the 2022 Tech package equipment is standard here.
• SEL Plus: This trim is the sweet spot if you want a more upscale feel, since it adds the 10.25-inch navigation system, Bose audio, wireless charging, a 12.3-inch gauge display, and Highway Drive Assist.
• Limited: This is the comfort-and-convenience choice, with leather seats, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, head-up display, surround-view monitor, and Remote Smart Parking Assist. It suits you if you want the most premium everyday experience.
• N Line: This is the pick if you want the sportiest Sonata, with the 290-hp turbocharged 2.5-liter engine, sport suspension, wet dual-clutch automatic transmission, tuned exhaust, and unique styling. It’s the right choice if driving character matters more than comfort-first tuning.
• N Line Night Edition: This is the most style-forward version, adding darker exterior details, matte black wheels, red brake calipers, and a more aggressive appearance package on top of the N Line formula.

The SEL trim gets blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-centering assistance, and Safe Exit Assist, while Limited adds a blind-spot view monitor, rear park assist, and surround-view monitor.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Hyundai Sonata?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,983 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.69% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 75.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,584, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $19,584 sits slightly below last year's $21,216.

That softer pricing suggests the Sonata is currently more buyer-friendly than seller-friendly. If you own one, you may need to price competitively to stand out, especially if your car is a higher-mileage example or lacks desirable equipment.

On the other hand, the model’s strong value reputation and broad feature set can still help it attract shoppers who want a well-equipped midsize sedan. If market conditions stabilize, that combination should support demand better than a less distinctive competitor.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Sonata safe?

The 2022 Hyundai Sonata gets five stars for overall crash protection from NHTSA, with four stars for front crash protection and five stars for side crash protection and rollover resistance.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Sonata comes standard with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, driver-attention warning, automatic high-beam headlights, rearview monitor, and Rear Occupant Alert. SEL adds blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-centering assistance, and Safe Exit Assist. Limited adds a blind-spot view monitor, rear park assist, and surround-view monitor.

One caveat is that IIHS had not rated the 2022 Sonata for crashworthiness at the time of this data, so you should lean on the NHTSA results and the standard safety equipment when evaluating it.

Should I buy a 2022 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.69% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It stands out for exceptional value, an outstanding warranty, and a surprisingly sporty N Line variant.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $17,033, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $19,584 average.
• It balances on-pavement performance with everyday passenger and cargo practicality.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around used buy, the 2022 is the better target because it combines value, safety, and a broad trim range. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 is worth a look for shoppers who want a lower entry price and can live with its older-year trade-offs.
