How much does the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe cost?

Prices have softened 9.11% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,661 listings available, which gives you a healthy pool of options to compare.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.85/5 user-rated SUV with an 8.33/10 expert score. The model scores 10/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its excellent value, impressive technology, and comfortable ride. They also like the spacious interior and advanced safety features, which fit well if you want a well-rounded family SUV. The main trade-offs are the underwhelming base engine and some turbo-engine noise, so it makes the most sense if you value comfort, equipment, and everyday usability more than quick acceleration. That lines up with the Santa Fe’s value-focused, family-friendly mission, and 39.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe reliable?

Owners rate it 4.85/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers emphasizing the Santa Fe’s long-term value, comfort, and confidence-inspiring day-to-day use. The expert drive notes also reinforce that the SUV feels composed and refined, with a powertrain that is adequate for normal commuting and highway cruising. Hyundai’s complimentary maintenance and warranty coverage add another layer of ownership reassurance. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that lower-trim versions may leave you wanting more power if you regularly carry passengers or drive in hilly terrain.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the engine, transmission behavior, tire wear, brake condition, and any signs of uneven use. It’s also smart to compare trim equipment closely, since the Santa Fe’s value proposition depends heavily on getting the features you want without overpaying for cosmetic extras.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XRT adds blacked-out exterior details, unique black alloy wheels, extra lower body cladding, fake skid plates, running boards, and roof-rail crossbars, but those touches are mostly cosmetic. It also includes the SEL’s equipment and Convenience Package, yet it still does not feel as upscale as the Limited or Calligraphy.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder makes 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque, and it is adequate for normal commuting and highway cruising. If you want more power, the turbocharged 2.5-liter in the Limited and Calligraphy produces 281 hp and 311 lb-ft.
• Safety package: Hyundai SmartSense includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability. Highway Driving Assist is not available on the XRT trim level.
• Infotainment: The XRT has a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with Bluetooth, satellite radio, and Bluelink connected services with a complimentary three-year subscription.
• Fuel efficiency: The XRT averaged 22.3 mpg in testing, and its official EPA fuel economy rating is 24 mpg.

Which 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe trim should I buy?

The 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe is offered in 5 trim levels: SE, SEL, XRT, Limited, Calligraphy.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, but the year’s safety expansion to the SE later in the year makes it more appealing than a bare-bones base trim. It’s the trim to consider if you want the lowest starting point and plan to add only the essentials.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it builds on the SE and adds the equipment that makes the Santa Fe feel more complete without jumping into luxury pricing.
• XRT: Choose this if you want the blacked-out styling, unique wheels, and outdoor-themed appearance package, but not if you’re expecting real off-road upgrades. It includes the SEL’s equipment and Convenience Package, yet the visual changes are the main draw.
• Limited: This is the first trim with the turbocharged 2.5-liter engine, so it’s the right move if you want noticeably stronger acceleration and a more satisfying driving experience.
• Calligraphy: Pick this if you want the most upscale Santa Fe experience, with the strongest blend of power and premium feel in the lineup.

The safety-package expansion to the SE later in the year is worth noting if you’re shopping lower trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough price softness to create opportunities.

• Deal availability: 39.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,661 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.11% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 87.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,292, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe's resale value?

The current average of $21,292 sits slightly below last year's $23,427.

That price movement suggests the Santa Fe has become more accessible to used buyers, which can help demand stay healthy if you decide to sell later. A lower entry price today may also make it easier for your ownership costs to stay manageable over time. If the market continues to favor value-oriented family SUVs, well-kept examples should remain attractive to shoppers looking for a lot of equipment for the money.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.85/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe safe?

The 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and it gets five-star ratings in every NHTSA test except for a four-star rollover resistance score.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Hyundai SmartSense brings forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability. Safe Exit Assist is also standard, and the ultrasonic rear occupant alert system adds another useful layer of family-focused protection. One caveat is that Highway Driving Assist is not available on the XRT trim level.

Should I buy a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 39.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.11% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.85/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• This year adds the XRT trim and expands safety availability later in the year.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $19,445, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $21,292 average.
• It brings a major update with new styling, controls, displays, engines, technology, and safety systems.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $24,305, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $21,292 average.
• It carries over nearly unchanged while adding a bit more horsepower to the base engine.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, safety, and equipment, the 2022 is the smart default. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2021 can save you money while still delivering a strong feature set. If you want to spend more for a newer model-year carryover, the 2023 is the cleaner but pricier alternative.
