How much does the 2022 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have softened 4.44% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,785 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of cars to compare.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Honda Civic earns a 4.94/5 from owners and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Owners consistently praise its technology, comfort, smooth ride, and fuel economy. The redesign also gets credit for feeling polished and well-rounded, with strong handling and plenty of cargo space. On the downside, the base stereo is lacking, and some shoppers may find the car poor value for money.

If you want a compact sedan that feels refined, practical, and enjoyable to drive, this Civic fits that brief well. The market also shows 32.9% good or great deals, so there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic reliable?

Owners rate it 4.94/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable, with many drivers describing it as a model they trust for everyday use. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the Civic behaves predictably and never acts in a surprising fashion, which supports confidence over time. Honda’s improved refinement and smoother operation add to that impression of durability.

If you’re buying used, the main long-term risk is less about the Civic’s core character and more about finding one that has been maintained well and equipped the way you want.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Honda Civic?

At 72% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and signs of prior repair. It’s also smart to focus on how the car’s features work in real use, especially the stereo, infotainment, and driver-assistance systems. Because some trims leave out important equipment, you’ll want to confirm the exact trim and option content before you buy.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX and Sport are the most basic versions, and the base stereo is lacking. The EX and Touring add more desirable equipment, while Touring brings the most upscale interior and technology.
• Powertrain: LX and Sport use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque, while EX and Touring get a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 180 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. The turbo engine is the one that feels more satisfying overall.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing includes Traffic Jam Assist, Level 2 adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and Lane Keeping Assist. Blind-spot warning is not on the LX or Sport, while the EX adds it and the Touring adds rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Touring upgrades to a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, HD radio, satellite radio, and navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbocharged engine is described as delivering a satisfying blend of performance and efficiency, and the Touring returned 30.4 mpg on a driving loop versus an EPA estimate of 34 mpg.

Which 2022 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2022 Honda Civic is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, and Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it comes with the least equipment and only four stereo speakers. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price, but you give up important convenience and safety features.
• Sport: This trim adds a bit more equipment and doubles the speaker count, but it still misses blind-spot warning. It’s a reasonable middle ground if you want a little more style and content without moving up too far in price.
• EX: This is the best-value choice for many used buyers because it adds the turbocharged engine and proper blind-spot warning on both sides. If you want the strongest mix of everyday usability and safety, this is the trim to target.
• Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, with the 9-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone features, premium Bose audio, navigation, and rear cross-traffic alert. Choose it if you want the most upscale Civic experience and are willing to pay more for it.

For safety, the EX is the trim that finally adds proper blind-spot warning, while Touring adds rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Honda Civic?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop with a clear target and be ready to move on the right car.

• Deal availability: 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,785 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.44% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 72.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,765, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $22,176 sits slightly below last year's $23,206.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer today, but it also suggests the market has already adjusted downward from a stronger prior-year level. If you plan to resell later, the current trend means your future value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim choice. Higher-demand versions with better equipment should be easier to move than stripped-down examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.94/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic safe?

The 2022 Honda Civic earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes Traffic Jam Assist, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and Lane Keeping Assist. The system is described as smoother, more accurate, and more refined than before, thanks to a wide-view front camera and eight ultrasonic sonar sensors. The Civic also adds a proper blind-spot warning system on the EX, while the Touring adds rear cross-traffic alert.

One important caveat is that blind-spot warning is not available on the LX or Sport, which leaves those trims short on a key safety feature. The car also gets rear side-impact airbags for the first time and a rear-seat reminder system in every trim, which strengthens its overall safety package.

Should I buy a 2022 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.44% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.94/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Honda’s redesign, handling, and technology make this year especially compelling.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $19,218, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $22,176 average.
• It’s the last of the outgoing generation and appeals if you want a proven compact car before the redesign.

The bottom line: If you want the better-rounded Civic with stronger tech, improved refinement, and a more modern feel, the 2022 is the better primary choice. If your top priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the smarter budget path, especially if you’re comfortable giving up the newer redesign.
