How much does the 2022 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have softened 4.34% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,769 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare on price and condition.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Honda Civic earns a 4.94/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Owners consistently praise its blend of technology, comfort, and driving performance, along with its smooth ride and impressive fuel economy. The redesign also gives you a more polished, well-rounded compact sedan with strong handling and plenty of cargo space. On the trade-off side, the base stereo is lacking, and some owners mention missing features such as wireless Apple CarPlay and a few other small conveniences.

If you want a compact car that feels refined and practical, this Civic fits that brief well. Even so, the market still reflects some caution around value, so it helps to compare trims carefully.

There are 32.8% good or great deals in the market, which suggests decent shopping opportunities if you’re selective.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic reliable?

Owners rate it 4.94/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car people feel good about living with over time, especially because it is described as smooth, comfortable, and efficient. The expert evaluation also emphasizes trust, predictability, and a demeanor that never feels sudden or unexpected, which supports the sense that this is a car you can count on day to day. Honda also positions the redesign as a carefully executed update with few exceptions, which reinforces the impression of solid engineering.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the specific car you’re considering has the features and condition you expect.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Honda Civic?

At 72.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a close inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and any signs of prior repair. It also makes sense to focus on how the car’s equipment matches your needs, since some desirable features are reserved for higher trims. If you’re shopping remotely, ask for detailed photos of the interior, infotainment screen, tires, and wheel condition before you commit.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX and Sport are the more basic versions, while the EX and Touring add more upscale equipment and a more mature interior presentation. The base trims also miss some of the features that make the Civic feel more complete, so you should pay close attention to equipment gaps if you want a better-rounded daily driver.
• Powertrain: LX and Sport use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque, while EX and Touring get a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 180 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. The turbo engine is the more satisfying choice if you want stronger acceleration without giving up the Civic’s efficiency-minded character.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing includes Traffic Jam Assist, Level 2 adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and Lane Keeping Assist. Blind-spot warning is standard on the EX, while the Touring adds rear cross-traffic alert; the LX and Sport do not get blind-spot warning.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 7-inch touchscreen with volume and tuning knobs, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Touring upgrades you to a 9-inch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, HD radio, satellite radio, and navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbocharged engine is described as delivering a satisfying blend of performance and efficiency, and the Touring returned 30.4 mpg on a 95-mile driving loop versus an EPA estimate of 34 mpg.

Which 2022 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2022 Honda Civic is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, and Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it’s also the most stripped-down version. You get the core Civic redesign and the standard infotainment setup, but you miss some of the features that make the car feel more polished, and the base stereo is the weakest part of the package.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more appealing equipment mix without jumping all the way to the top of the range. It still uses the base engine, though, so if you care more about power than appearance and everyday value, you may want to keep shopping.
• EX: This is the trim to target if you want the best balance of value, comfort, and safety. It brings the turbocharged engine and proper blind-spot warning on both sides, which makes it the smartest choice for younger or less experienced drivers.
• Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, with the larger digital display, wireless smartphone integration, premium audio, navigation, and rear cross-traffic alert. It’s the right pick if you want the most upscale Civic experience and are willing to pay for it.

Honda’s safety setup is strongest on the EX and Touring, while the LX and Sport miss blind-spot warning.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Honda Civic?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully rather than rush.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,769 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.34% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 72.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,766, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $22,263 sits slightly below last year's $23,272.

That softer pricing suggests the Civic is currently more accessible to buyers than it was a year ago, which can help you enter the market at a better point. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and trim than on broad market momentum alone. Higher-spec versions with the right equipment should be easier to position than a bare-bones example.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.94/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic safe?

The 2022 Honda Civic earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes Traffic Jam Assist, Level 2 adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and Lane Keeping Assist. The system is described as smoother, more accurate, and more refined than before, thanks to a wide-view front camera and eight ultrasonic sonar sensors. The Civic also adds a proper blind-spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alert on the EX and Touring, while the LX and Sport do not get blind-spot warning.

A key caveat is that blind-spot warning is not standard on the lower trims, which is a notable omission for a car many younger buyers may consider.

Should I buy a 2022 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.34% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.94/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Honda’s redesign, handling, and technology improvements make this year especially important in the Civic lineup.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $19,346, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $22,263 average.
• It’s the outgoing generation, so you may prefer it if you want a proven Civic before the redesign.

The bottom line: If you want the more polished, better-equipped, and more modern Civic, the 2022 is the stronger choice. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 can still make sense, especially if you find a clean example with the right financing or lease terms.
