The Yukon's interior is tastefully crafted, featuring premium materials and a modern layout that enhances both aesthetics and functionality. Notably, the introduction of a 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine option provides excellent fuel economy and impressive torque, making it a versatile choice for towing and hauling. Very nice ride. The only thing to improve would be the fuel efficiency of the 5.3L gas engine.

The diesel is good value, the gas models not so much. I love these things! Much better space in the trunk and in general than the expedition and that’s coming from a ford guy. The seats fold in a more logical fashion and it’s more family friendly. The seats in the expedition are so hard I had to look at tahoes and Yukons instead. They’re currently vastly superior!

2022 GMC Yukon Price Trends
CarGurus tracks the prices of millions of used car listings every year. See how the average price of 2022 GMC Yukon prices has changed over time.
See more price trendsHow much does the 2022 GMC Yukon cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $48,272 |
| Year-Round Low | $48,241.47 |
| Year-Round High | $54,679.12 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $54,666 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −11.70% |
Prices have softened 11.70% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 3,268 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare trims and equipment. If you find a listing below $48,241.47, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2022 GMC Yukon a good car?
Yes — the 2022 GMC Yukon earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Technology, and Safety.
The Yukon fits well if you want a full-size SUV with a spacious cabin, strong towing capability, and a premium feel. Its redesigned layout brings improved third-row room, and the available diesel broadens the appeal if you care about torque and efficiency.
The trade-offs are clear: fuel economy is not a strength, and the expert review also flags value for money as a weak point. Even so, the market shows 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which helps offset some of that concern.
Is the 2022 GMC Yukon reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The Yukon’s redesign emphasizes passenger space, cargo room, and a smoother ride, and the expert review notes that its systems behaved well during testing without being overly intrusive. The available diesel also comes with a five-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty, which adds reassurance if you choose that engine.
If you’re shopping used, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the vehicle has been maintained consistently, especially if you plan to keep it for towing or high-mileage family use.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 GMC Yukon?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the report carefully, because accident-free status is only one part of the picture. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on suspension behavior, brake feel, and any signs of heavy towing or family-hauler wear. Pay close attention to cabin condition, since this SUV is often used for frequent passenger duty and long trips.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base SLE has enough chrome to look premium, but it uses cloth seats and lacks the leather and comfort upgrades found higher up the range. The SLT, AT4, and Denali move you into perforated leather, with the Denali adding the most upscale interior treatment and standard second-row captain’s chairs.
- Powertrain: You get a 5.3-liter V8, a 6.2-liter V8, or a 3.0-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder. The diesel stands out for its torque and fuel economy, while the V8s use cylinder deactivation and pair with a 10-speed automatic.
- Safety package: GMC Pro Safety is standard and includes automatic emergency braking with front pedestrian detection, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, following distance indicator, and automatic high-beam headlights. GMC Pro Safety Plus adds lane-change alert with blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear park assist, and it is standard on SLT and above but only available on SLE.
- Infotainment: The Yukon uses a 10.2-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Google Built-In, and wireless phone charging on all but the SLE. AT4 and Denali also get three years of connected services.
- Fuel efficiency: EPA combined fuel economy lands at 16-17 mpg with the V8 engines and 22-23 mpg with the diesel. The diesel is the better choice if you want to reduce fuel stops.
Which 2022 GMC Yukon trim should I buy?
The 2022 GMC Yukon is offered in 4 trim levels: SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The SLE gives you the Yukon’s core space and capability, but it starts with cloth seats and misses the more upscale leather and comfort features found higher up. It also does not get the standard blind-spot and rear cross-traffic features that come with the upgraded safety package on higher trims.
- Sweet-spot trim: The SLT is the best value if you want a more premium daily driver, because it adds perforated leather and makes GMC Pro Safety Plus standard. That gives you a stronger mix of comfort and driver assistance without jumping to luxury pricing.
- Premium/top trim: The Denali is the clear choice if you want the most upscale Yukon, with standard second-row captain’s chairs, exclusive interior designs, heated and cooled front seats, and the strongest luxury presentation.
- Off-road trim: The AT4 is the one to choose if you want the Yukon’s off-road styling and hardware, but its unique equipment and 4WD-only setup make it less straightforward for typical daily driving.
GMC Pro Safety Plus is available on SLE and standard on SLT and above, so that safety-package upgrade is a meaningful reason to move beyond the base trim.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 GMC Yukon?
This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 3,268 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.70% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 84.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $48,241.47, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 GMC Yukon's resale value?
The current average of $48,272 sits slightly below last year's $54,666.
That price movement suggests the Yukon has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilizes. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss when it’s time to sell.
Demand should remain supported by the Yukon’s family-friendly space, premium feel, and broad trim range. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 GMC Yukon safe?
The 2022 GMC Yukon earns four-star ratings in front crash protection and rollover resistance, and five-star ratings in side crash protection from NHTSA.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Every 2022 Yukon comes with GMC Pro Safety, which includes automatic emergency braking with front pedestrian detection, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, following distance indicator, and automatic high-beam headlights. GMC Pro Safety Plus adds lane-change alert with blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear park assist, and it is standard on SLT and above.
The safety setup is strong overall, but the rollover rating is the main area to keep in mind when you’re comparing it with other full-size SUVs.
Should I buy a 2022 GMC Yukon or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.70% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2022 adds enhanced connectivity and a standard 12-inch driver information center.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $43,294, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $48,272 average.
- It delivers a redesigned cabin with improved passenger and cargo space.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger feature set and are comfortable paying more, the 2022 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2021 is the smarter value play, especially if you find one in good condition with the equipment you want.
