Used 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 for Sale nearBaltimore, MD

How much does the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 9.71% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,580 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for you to compare trims and prices.

Is the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, luxurious interior, and excellent features. They also call out the strong powertrains and great fuel efficiency, especially with the diesel engine.

The trade-offs are the poor ergonomic design and weak fuel economy, so you should expect a premium-feeling truck that still has some everyday usability compromises.

With its upscale positioning, spacious cabin, and broad capability, it makes the most sense if you want a full-size pickup that leans more luxury than worksite-basic. Good and great deals account for 32.3% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that feels smooth, luxurious, and excellent to live with over time, while also highlighting strong powertrains and great fuel efficiency. The expert notes also describe the Sierra as powerful and comfortable, with a ride that is quiet, compliant, and well controlled.

The diesel engine is singled out by owners as especially efficient, and the expert review also emphasizes the truck’s strong towing-oriented capability and refined road manners. That combination suggests you’re looking at a truck that should be easy to live with if you choose the right configuration.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that higher running costs and configuration complexity can make the wrong trim or engine choice less satisfying over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 GMC Sierra 1500?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage truck or one that has been used for towing. Focus on overall condition, cabin wear, and whether the truck’s equipment matches the trim you’re paying for.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sierra lineup spans Pro, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, Denali, AT4X, and Denali Ultimate. Base trims are more straightforward, while higher trims add more premium materials, larger wheels, and more distinctive styling.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, a 3.8-liter Duramax turbo-diesel inline-six, a 5.3-liter V8, and a 6.2-liter V8. The diesel stands out for efficiency and towing strength, while the higher-output V8 is standard on the AT4X and Denali Ultimate.
• Safety package: GMC Pro Safety includes forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane-keep assist, a following distance indicator, and IntelliBeam automatic headlights. Super Cruise is standard only on the Denali Ultimate.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes a 12.3-inch digital cluster and a 13.4-inch touchscreen with Google built-in. Wireless device charging is standard across the lineup, and three years of complimentary service is included for Sierra AT4 and Denali trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The AT4X is rated at 13 city, 17 highway, and 14 combined mpg.

Which 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 is offered in 8 trim levels: Pro, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, Denali, AT4X, and Denali Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• Pro: This is the entry point if you want the Sierra’s core capability at the lowest price, but it’s the most basic way into the lineup.
• SLE: This is the first step up if you want a more balanced everyday truck without jumping too far in price.
• Elevation: Choose this if you want a more distinctive look while staying below the premium trims.
• SLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more upscale feel without going all the way to the luxury end.
• AT4: Pick this if you want the off-road-focused personality and a more rugged setup.
• Denali: This is the luxury-leaning choice if you want premium materials and a more upscale cabin.
• AT4X: This is the more serious off-road trim, with the most specialized hardware and a top-tier feature set.
• Denali Ultimate: This is the flagship if you want the most luxurious Sierra experience, and it’s the trim to choose if you want Super Cruise.

The safety package note to keep in mind is that Super Cruise is limited to the Denali Ultimate, while GMC Pro Safety is standard across the Sierra lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 GMC Sierra 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,580 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.71% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $40,930, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $40,930 sits slightly below last year's $45,330.

That decline suggests the market has cooled enough to give you a better entry point now than a year ago. If you buy at today’s average or below, you may have less downside risk than someone who bought when prices were higher.

For a future seller, the key question is whether you choose a desirable trim and keep the truck in strong condition. Premium trims and well-equipped examples should hold more appeal than bare-bones versions, especially if they’re accident-free and well maintained.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 safe?

The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 received mostly “Good” crash safety ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, but it earned a “Marginal” grade in the front-passenger small overlap test and a “Poor” grade for headlights.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

GMC Pro Safety is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane-keep assist, a following distance indicator, and IntelliBeam automatic headlights. Super Cruise is a standout feature, but it is limited to the Denali Ultimate, where it comes standard.

The main caveat is the weaker headlight result, which is worth keeping in mind if you do a lot of night driving. The Sierra also has a trailering-focused safety advantage with up to 14 camera views, GCW Alert, Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert, and updated adaptive cruise control for towing.

Should I buy a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.71% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a major redesign with more upscale trims, stronger tech, and broader capability.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $34,355, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $40,930 average.
• It offers familiar capability with unique features and multiple powertrain choices.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $44,110, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $40,930 average.
• It pushes luxury further with a more upscale Denali Ultimate focus.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the best all-around pick if you want the redesigned Sierra with stronger tech and a more premium feel. If your budget matters most, the 2021 is the value play; if you want the most luxury-oriented version, the 2023 is the step up to consider.
