Used 2022 GMC Canyon for Sale nearTrenton, NJ

How much does the 2022 GMC Canyon cost?

Prices have softened 6.54% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,582 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 GMC Canyon a good car?

Yes — the 2022 GMC Canyon earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 6.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Form and function.

Owners repeatedly praise its smooth ride, responsive handling, and quiet cabin, and they also like the interior quality and easy-to-live-with driving character. The truck’s smaller footprint and efficient midsize packaging make it appealing if you want pickup utility without stepping up to a full-size model.

The trade-offs are clear: the base engine is underwhelming, and advanced safety features are not standard. The Canyon fits you best if you want a more premium-feeling midsize truck and can live with some compromises in value and equipment.

Only 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market still rewards careful shopping.

Is the 2022 GMC Canyon reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable in daily use, with praise for its smooth ride, responsive handling, and quiet cabin. The expert evaluation also notes that the Canyon is a capable, enjoyable pickup, and GMC includes the first scheduled maintenance visit.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that value and equipment content may not match the price you pay, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 GMC Canyon?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are not the same as problem-free trucks. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on wear, maintenance records, and how the truck was used. Pay close attention to trim-specific equipment, since safety and tech content vary a lot by version.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Elevation Standard has a more basic cabin with typical GM switchgear and materials, while the Denali adds a unique chrome grille, 20-inch diamond-cut machined alloy wheels, chrome assist steps, heated and ventilated perforated front leather seats, open-pore Ash wood trim, Denali-branded sill plates and floor mats, and a Bose premium audio system. The AT4 brings a black chrome grille and surround, LED signature lighting, unique 17-inch wheels, soft-touch instrument panel, premium heated leather front seats with Kalahari accents, and available Bose audio.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a 200-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder, a 308-hp 3.6-liter V6, or a 181-hp 2.8-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder with 369 pound-feet of torque. Rear-wheel drive is standard, four-wheel drive is available on all trims, and the V6 and diesel are the stronger choices if you want more capability.
• Safety package: The Driver Alert package adds forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and rear parking assistance. It is available on the Elevation and AT4 and standard on the Denali, but rear park assist is only available on models equipped with leather seats.
• Infotainment: The Elevation Standard uses a 7-inch color touchscreen infotainment system. The Elevation upgrades to an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth streaming audio plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The AT4 adds wireless smartphone charging, and the Denali adds navigation, a high-definition rearview camera, and several driver-assist features.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.5-liter four-cylinder returns 22 mpg combined, or 21 mpg with 4WD. The turbodiesel returns 23 mpg combined, or 22 mpg with 4WD. The V6 returns 21 mpg combined, or 19 mpg with 4WD.

Which 2022 GMC Canyon trim should I buy?

The 2022 GMC Canyon is offered in 4 trim levels: Elevation Standard, Elevation, AT4, and Denali.

Here's the short version:

• Elevation Standard: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Canyon’s core midsize-truck utility at the lowest price. It’s the trim to consider if you want the most affordable path into the lineup, but you should expect a more basic cabin and no advanced driver aids.
• Elevation: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the larger 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto while keeping the price below the off-road and luxury trims. If you want a more modern tech setup without stretching too far, this is the one to focus on.
• AT4: Choose this if you want the rugged look and off-road hardware, including the Duratrac tires, two-speed transfer case, special off-road suspension, auto-locking rear differential, transfer case shield, and hill-descent control. It suits you best if you want a more adventurous Canyon with a premium feel.
• Denali: This is the luxury pick, with the richest interior and the most standard convenience and driver-assist content. It makes sense if you want the most upscale Canyon and are willing to pay for it.

The safety-package content is uneven across the lineup, so make sure the trim you choose includes the driver-assistance features you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 GMC Canyon?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,582 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.54% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,085, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 GMC Canyon's resale value?

The current average of $30,085 sits slightly below last year's $32,192.

That softer pricing suggests the Canyon has become easier to buy than it was a year ago, which can help you if you’re shopping now. For a future seller, though, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim. Well-kept trucks with desirable equipment should hold up better than basic examples with fewer features.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 GMC Canyon safe?

The 2022 GMC Canyon earned four out of five stars for overall crash protection in tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It received four stars for frontal crash protection, five stars for side protection, and three stars for rollover resistance. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), it earned the highest-possible "Good" ratings in all of the organization's crash tests save one.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety story is trim-dependent. The base Elevation Standard does not come with any advanced driver aids, though it does include tire-fill alert and the Teen Driver system with Buckle-to-Drive. The Driver Alert package adds forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and rear parking assistance on the Elevation and AT4, and it comes standard on the Denali. Rear park assist is only available on models equipped with leather seats.

There are also some notable gaps: adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, and lane-keeping or lane-centering assistance are not available. The IIHS also flagged a poor result for the front passenger-side small overlap structure and safety cage, along with poor headlights and marginal LATCH anchors.

Should I buy a 2022 GMC Canyon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.54% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a new Denali Black Edition package and renames the High Elevation package Elevation Premium.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $27,736, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $30,085 average.
• It adds a refreshed look and an AT4 trim while staying familiar underneath.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $38,444, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $30,085 average.
• It brings a redesigned Canyon with more upscale tech and a new AT4X off-road model.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, inventory, and familiar Canyon character, the 2022 is the safer buy. If your priority is saving money, the 2021 is the better value play. If you want the newer redesign and can spend more, the 2023 is the upgrade path.
