How much does the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban cost?

Prices have softened 14.64% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,468 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

That lines up with what you get in practice: a roomy cabin, broad capability, and multiple powertrain choices, including a powerful engine option. It is especially appealing if you want a full-size SUV that prioritizes passenger and cargo space.

The main trade-offs are its potentially polarizing design and difficult maneuverability in tight spaces, along with poor fuel economy. Even so, the market still shows healthy interest, with 36.8% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 Suburban’s appeal for long-term ownership starts with its broad capability and the way Chevrolet updated it with more modern tech and safety features. The available 3.0-liter turbodiesel also brings strong torque and excellent fuel economy, which can help reduce day-to-day strain if you drive a lot.

Chevrolet also backs that diesel with a five-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty, which is a useful ownership cushion. For used buyers, the bigger risk is less about the basic formula and more about finding a well-kept example, since a large SUV like this can be expensive to live with if it has been neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Chevrolet Suburban?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on wear from size and use, especially if the SUV has been used for towing or family hauling. Pay close attention to condition, since the Suburban’s size and equipment can make repairs and upkeep more expensive if previous owners were careless.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LS is the most basic version, while the LT adds leather seats and a larger digital instrument cluster, and the High Country brings the most upscale cabin materials. The base trim is the one most likely to leave you without some of the nicer comfort and tech upgrades.
• Powertrain: You can choose a 5.3-liter V8, a 6.2-liter V8, or a 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-six, all paired with a 10-speed automatic. The diesel stands out for strong torque and excellent fuel economy, while the V8s use cylinder deactivation to help efficiency.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, front pedestrian braking, rear park assist, following distance indicator, automatic high-beam headlights, and an HD rear-vision camera. For 2022, front park assist, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-departure warning are standard, while reverse automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and other features are optional.
• Infotainment: The LS gets an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while LT and above add a 10.2-inch system with Google built-in. LT and higher also get a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and wireless device charging is standard on those trims.
• Fuel efficiency: EPA fuel economy for the V8 models ranges from 14 mpg city to 20 mpg highway, with a combined rating of 16-17 mpg. The 3.0-liter diesel is rated at 20 mpg city and 27 mpg highway.

Which 2022 Chevrolet Suburban trim should I buy?

The 2022 Chevrolet Suburban is offered in 6 trim levels: LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premiere, and High Country.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Suburban formula with the 8-inch infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the standard safety suite. It makes sense if you want the biggest cabin for the least money.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds leather seats, the larger 10.2-inch infotainment system with Google built-in, the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and wireless charging. It also marks a clear step up in everyday comfort and tech.
• RST: This trim leans into a sportier look and can be paired with the available 6.2-liter V8. It suits you if you want more style and stronger performance without jumping all the way to the top of the range.
• Z71: This is the one to consider if you want the standard 4WD setup and the more trail-oriented hardware mentioned in the lineup. It is the trim to look at if your priorities include traction and a more rugged setup.
• Premiere: This trim adds a more upscale feel and is one of the trims that can get the 6.2-liter V8. It makes sense if you want stronger power and a more premium experience.
• High Country: This is the top-spec choice, with the plushest cabin materials and the most premium presentation. Buy it if you want the most luxurious Suburban experience.

Chevrolet Safety Assist is standard, and front park assist, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-departure warning are standard for 2022.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Suburban?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without rushing.

• Deal availability: 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,468 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.64% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 80.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $41,901, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban's resale value?

The current average of $41,901 sits slightly below last year's $49,088.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the chance of taking a steep depreciation hit from today’s market level.

The Suburban’s broad appeal still helps support future demand, especially because it offers the space and capability many large-SUV shoppers want. A well-kept example with desirable equipment should remain easier to move than a neglected one.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban safe?

The 2022 Chevrolet Suburban earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side crash tests from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevrolet Safety Assist is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, front pedestrian braking, rear park assist, following distance indicator, automatic high-beam headlights, and an HD rear-vision camera. For 2022, front park assist, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-departure warning are also standard, while adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, reverse automatic braking, and a head-up display are optional.

Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Suburban or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.64% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Chevrolet added a larger digital instrument cluster, standard Google built-in, and standard park-assist and lane-maintenance features this year.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $37,242, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $41,901 average.
• It still delivers the spacious, capable full-size SUV formula with plenty of cargo space and a powerful engine.

The bottom line: Choose the 2022 if you want the newer tech and safety upgrades and are comfortable paying more for them. If your priority is saving money, the 2021 is the better value path, especially if you can find one in strong condition with the equipment you want.
