How much does the 2022 Chevrolet Malibu cost?

Prices have softened 8.99% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,601 listings available, which suggests you should have a solid range of options to compare.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Chevrolet Malibu earns a 4.6/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its smooth ride, fuel economy, and useful features, and many also like the convenience of Android Auto and heated seats. For you, that makes it a sensible pick if you want a roomy, value-oriented midsize sedan with a comfortable cabin and straightforward tech. With 31.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s also a decent amount of market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience centered on smooth driving, good fuel economy, and features that make daily use easy. That kind of long-term confidence matters if you want a used sedan you can count on without expecting a lot of drama.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t picked up hidden wear from prior use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Chevrolet Malibu?

At 72.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with accident records. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus your condition check on bodywork, alignment, interior wear, and how the car drives, since those details can reveal whether a used Malibu has been cared for properly.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Malibu?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,601 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.99% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 72.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,630, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $15,630 sits slightly below last year's $17,173.

That price movement suggests the Malibu has softened in the used market, which can help you buy at a lower entry point today. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and how well the car is presented when it’s time to list it. If you keep the car clean, well maintained, and documented, you’ll be in a better position to stand out in a market where prices have already eased.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.99% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2022 Malibu makes the most sense if you want a comfortable, value-focused midsize sedan and you find a clean example at a competitive price. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2022 is a strong target when you want a balance of owner satisfaction, deal availability, and lower-than-last-year pricing.
