There are 227 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

The Bolt EV fits you well if you want a practical, mainstream EV with a 259-mile range, standard DC fast charging, a spacious cabin, and strong value for money. Its bolder exterior and more conventional cabin design help it feel more approachable than many early EVs.

The main trade-offs are inconvenient control placement and the fact that it is not the more upscale Bolt EUV. Even so, the market still shows 34.4% of listings as good or great deals, which supports its value case.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Bolt EV is presented as a practical, everyday EV with a simple, conventional infotainment setup and standard fast charging that makes ownership easier. Its battery and electric drive components are backed by an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty, which helps reduce long-term ownership anxiety.

The main used-buyer concern is making sure the battery and recall history are clean before you commit, since EV ownership depends heavily on battery condition and prior service completion.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report, confirm recall work, and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks charging behavior, cabin controls, and overall condition. Because this is an EV, battery health matters as much as cosmetic wear, so focus on how the car charges at home and on DC fast chargers.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 1LT includes 17-inch aluminum wheels, heated and power-adjustable side mirrors, solar-absorbing glass, manual front seats, a 60/40 split-fold rear seat, automatic climate control, and a 10.2-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. The 2LT adds heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and leather seats, making it the better-equipped choice if you want more comfort.
• Powertrain: The Bolt EV uses a single electric motor with front-wheel drive and 200 horsepower. It delivers quick low-end response and enough passing power for highway use, while Sport mode sharpens throttle response.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, and automatic high beams. The 1LT can add the Driver Confidence Package with rear park assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-change alert with side blind zone alert.
• Infotainment: You get a 10.2-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and over-the-air capability through the updated Chevrolet Infotainment System 3 setup.
• Range & charging: The Bolt EV carries a 65-kWh battery pack and can add up to 90 miles of range in 30 minutes on DC fast charging. On a 240-volt Level 2 charger, it adds about 20 miles of range per hour.
• Battery health: Check battery state-of-health, ask how often the car has been DC fast charged versus charged at home, and confirm how much of the battery warranty remains. For a used EV, a clean charging history and healthy battery are key to preserving range and resale value.

Which 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV trim should I buy?

The 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV is offered in 2 trim levels: 1LT and 2LT.

Here's the short version:

• 1LT: This is the value play if you want the Bolt EV’s core strengths at the lowest entry point. You still get the 10.2-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the standard safety suite, so it covers the essentials well.
• 2LT: This is the better choice if you want more comfort and a more upscale feel, thanks to heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and leather seats. It’s the trim to choose if you’ll spend a lot of time in the car and want the nicest daily-driver experience.

The optional Driver Confidence Package on the 1LT adds rear park assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-change alert with side blind zone alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on a strong listing.

• Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 227 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 88.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,240, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV's resale value?

The current average of $18,777 sits slightly below last year's $18,911.

That small decline suggests the Bolt EV has been holding value fairly steadily rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For you as a future seller, that usually means pricing should remain predictable if the car stays clean, well maintained, and properly documented.

Because the market is stable and the model has strong value appeal, a well-kept Bolt EV should remain easy to position competitively when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV safe?

The 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

It comes standard with Chevy Safety Assist, which includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, and automatic high beams. The 1LT can also be equipped with the Driver Confidence Package, which adds rear park assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-change alert with side blind zone alert.

One important caveat is the recall history tied to rare manufacturing defects that increased fire risk, so you should confirm that any used example has had the necessary repairs completed.

Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 model adds standard DC fast charging, making it more usable for everyday EV ownership.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $16,835, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $18,777 average.
• It focuses on affordable EV commuting with impressive range, fuel efficiency, and a spacious cabin.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2022 if you want the better-rounded Bolt EV with standard fast charging and a more modern feel. If your priority is spending less up front and you can live without the 2022 updates, the 2021 is the cheaper path.
