CarGurus Analysis: 2022 BMW X7
Summary
With 1,173 currently listed for sale and an average price of $40,876, 37.2% of 2022 BMW X7 listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 BMW X7 5 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2022 BMW X7 stands out as BMW’s full-size, three-row flagship SUV, giving buyers a more luxurious and spacious alternative in the brand’s lineup. It is built on the same CLAR platform as the X5, but it is only available with all-wheel drive, and its nearly foot-longer body helps make the rear seats more usable while also adding cargo space. The standard second-row bench and available captain’s chairs reinforce its family-friendly mission, while the overall package aims squarely at shoppers who want a premium SUV with a more upscale feel than the typical large utility vehicle.
For 2022, the X7’s appeal comes from its long list of comfort, convenience, and technology features. Standard equipment includes self-leveling air suspension, four-zone climate control, Sensafin synthetic leather upholstery, adaptive LED headlights, BMW’s iDrive infotainment and connectivity system, and an active kidney grille. It also brings a strong safety roster with blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, front and rear collision warning, wireless charging, a heated third-row seat, and adaptive cruise control with a hands-free option. Buyers looking for more luxury can find available touches such as heated-and-cooled cup holders, gesture control, massaging seats, a panoramic sunroof, LED light patterns, and laser headlights.
Performance is another major part of the 2022 BMW X7’s identity. The lineup includes a 335-horsepower 3.0-liter inline-six in the xDrive40i and a 456-hp twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 in the xDrive50i, both paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The X7 also launched with Apple CarPlay, and by 2021 Android Auto had been added. Its strengths are clear: powerful engines, a very comfortable ride, and a quiet cabin. The tradeoffs are just as clear, with a relatively small third row, unintuitive technology, and a polarizing design standing out as the main drawbacks.

You should still check the report carefully and confirm the SUV’s service history before you buy. The current average of $40,968 sits slightly below last year's $48,547.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For future resale, the current softness may limit short-term appreciation, but it can also make the SUV easier to position competitively if you maintain it well. Strong condition, clean history, and desirable equipment should matter more when you eventually sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
