Accident-free inventory is solid at 86% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then focus on a pre-purchase inspection so you can confirm the car’s condition matches the listing. Pay close attention to wear on the interior, electronics, and any signs that expensive options or luxury features have not been maintained carefully.

What is the 2022 BMW 8 Series's resale value?

The current average of $48,575 sits slightly below last year's $54,317.

That price movement suggests the market has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale if you buy at the right number. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range, you may reduce the amount of value left to lose over your ownership period. The car’s premium positioning and strong appeal to luxury shoppers can help support demand, but depreciation remains part of the ownership picture.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 BMW 8 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.57% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $46,055, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $48,575 average.
• It emphasizes style and prestige with strong performance.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $58,665, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $48,575 average.
• It adds styling tweaks and an enlarged touchscreen.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, inventory, and satisfaction, the 2022 is the primary pick. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2021 is the better value-oriented alternative, while the 2023 makes sense if you want to pay more for the newer updates.
