Is the 2021 Volvo S60 a good car?

Yes — 5/5. The 2021 Volvo S60 is a compact luxury sedan that blends Scandinavian style with a strong emphasis on safety and comfort. It rides on Volvo’s Scalable Product Architecture, shares its platform with larger Volvo models, and brings a high-quality cabin with superb build quality and especially comfortable seats.

For your use case, that makes it a strong fit if you want a refined daily driver with modern tech, standard safety equipment, and a premium feel. It is less compelling if you need the roomiest rear seat or the sportiest driving experience in the class.

33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Volvo S60 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2021 Volvo S60’s reliability story is anchored by its safety-first design, standard collision-avoidance equipment, and a cabin built around comfort and quality. It also benefits from a modern platform and a well-equipped feature set that should help it feel current for years.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is choosing the wrong powertrain or a poorly maintained example, so condition and service history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Volvo S60?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then focus on a pre-purchase inspection that checks the electronics, infotainment, and any signs of uneven wear. Pay close attention to overall condition, since the S60’s premium appeal depends heavily on how well the cabin and technology have been maintained.

If you are considering a plug-in hybrid, make sure the charging system and hybrid components are thoroughly evaluated before you commit.

If you find a listing below $20,996, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Volvo S60's resale value?

The current average of $21,380 sits slightly below last year's $23,627.

That decline suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who purchased when prices were higher. The S60’s premium image and strong safety reputation can still help support demand when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2021 Volvo S60 or consider a different year?
