How much does the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA cost?

Prices have softened 11.49% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 326 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

The CLA stands out as a compact luxury sedan that delivers a high-class interior, sharp styling, and an advanced user interface. It is also described as small, but still worthy of the Mercedes-Benz name, which makes it a strong fit if you care more about premium presentation and driving enjoyment than rear-seat space.

The trade-offs are clear: the back seat is cramped, and it is called poor value for money. Even so, the combination of personality, multiple powertrain options, and modern tech gives it a distinct appeal if you want a stylish entry-luxury car.

Good and great deals account for 33.1% of listings, so you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The CLA is presented as a major improvement over the original version, with the current model carrying forward the gains made in the redesign. Its performance and cabin execution suggest a more mature product than the earlier car, and the expert summary frames it as a comeback story for the nameplate.

The performance notes also point to a well-rounded setup, with energetic power delivery and playful handling. On the ownership side, the base model’s fuel economy is a practical plus, and the cost-effectiveness notes reinforce that the car has become more competitive than the original CLA.

If you buy used, the main long-term risk is that a premium compact car can be more sensitive to maintenance history and condition than a mainstream sedan.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or a car with optional equipment. Focus on overall condition, because the CLA’s premium appeal depends heavily on how well the interior, electronics, and driving feel have been preserved.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The CLA 250 is the most approachable version, with standard dual-zone automatic climate control, remote start, synthetic leather upholstery, five USB ports, power-adjustable sport seats, and HD radio. The AMG CLA 35 and AMG CLA 45 add the Premium Package equipment, so they bring more standard content.
• Powertrain: All versions use a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The CLA 250 makes 221 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, while the AMG CLA 35 and AMG CLA 45 step up to 302 hp and 382 hp, respectively. The CLA 250 can be front-wheel drive or available 4Matic all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, driver attention monitor, and crosswind assist. The Driver Assistance package adds adaptive cruise control, rear collision braking, lane departure warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. Adaptive headlights, parallel park assist, and a surround-view parking monitor are also available.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses 7-inch digital instrument and center touchscreen displays, with available 10.25-inch screens through the Premium Package. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, but wireless CarPlay and Android Auto are not available.
• Fuel efficiency: The base FWD CLA 250 returns 25 mpg city, 35 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined. The CLA 250 4Matic returns 24 mpg city, 33 mpg highway, and 27 mpg combined. The AMG CLA 35 returns 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined, while the AMG CLA 45 returns 20 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 23 mpg combined.

Which 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA trim should I buy?

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA is offered in 3 trim levels: CLA 250, AMG CLA 35, and AMG CLA 45.

Here's the short version:

• CLA 250: This is the best-value choice if you want the CLA’s sharp styling, premium cabin, and standard tech without paying for the AMG upgrades. It gives you the core experience, including the standard safety and infotainment setup, and it is the trim most buyers should start with.
• AMG CLA 35: Choose this if you want a stronger performance edge and are willing to pay for the extra power and standard AWD. It adds more excitement while keeping the CLA’s upscale interior and technology focus.
• AMG CLA 45: This is the pick if you want the most powerful and quickest version, with the most aggressive performance character in the lineup. It is the enthusiast choice, not the value choice.

The Driver Assistance package is optional, so you should factor that into your shopping list if you want the fullest safety feature set.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 326 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.49% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 77.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,540, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA's resale value?

The current average of $23,540 sits slightly below last year's $26,596.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger depreciation hit later.

The CLA’s premium badge and strong owner satisfaction can help support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment. Condition, mileage, and history will matter a lot when it comes time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA safe?

The CLA earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

It comes with a solid standard safety suite that includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, driver attention monitor, and crosswind assist. The Driver Assistance package adds adaptive cruise control, rear collision braking, lane departure warning, and rear cross-traffic alert, while adaptive headlights, parallel park assist, and a surround-view parking monitor are also available.

The main caveat is that several useful features are optional rather than standard, so you should check the equipment list carefully on any used example you are considering.

Should I buy a 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.49% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 model carries forward the improved redesign with sharp styling, energetic performance, and a high-class interior.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $21,003, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $23,540 average.
• It offers a strong case for buyers who want upscale styling and great ride quality.

The bottom line: If you want the better-rounded version of the CLA with stronger market support and the latest execution of the redesign, the 2021 is the safer pick. If your priority is saving money and you are comfortable giving up some of the current-year market advantages, the 2020 is the value-oriented alternative.
