Used 2021 BMW 2 Series for Sale nearProvidence, RI

How much does the 2021 BMW 2 Series cost?

Prices have softened 9.41% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 599 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable range of choices.

Is the 2021 BMW 2 Series a good car?

Yes — the 2021 BMW 2 Series earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Technology, and Safety.

It stands out as a compact, entry-level BMW with multiple body styles, and it is aimed at buyers who want a small luxury car with a more engaging character. The expert review highlights great handling and impressive technology, which helps offset the car’s confusing naming and positioning.

The main trade-offs are uncomfortable seats and a cramped back seat, and the expert review also calls it poor value for money. Even so, if you want a small BMW that feels more driver-focused than purely practical, this one fits that use case well.

32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 BMW 2 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2021 BMW 2 Series is presented as a compact luxury car with a strong technology suite and a performance-oriented character. The expert review also notes that BMW includes free scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership costs.

Its performance setup is described as lively and enjoyable, with a turbocharged four-cylinder, an eight-speed automatic, and available all-wheel drive. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a small luxury car with this much equipment can become expensive if prior maintenance or condition has been neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 BMW 2 Series?

At 73% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage or optioned-up example. Pay close attention to body condition, interior wear, and whether the car’s equipment matches the trim and package claims in the listing.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 228i and M235i model series differ in equipment and character, and the M Sport Package adds sharper steering and a more athletic feel. Base cars can miss some of the more desirable convenience and tech upgrades.
• Powertrain: The 228i uses a 228-hp turbocharged four-cylinder, while xDrive all-wheel drive is optional on the 228i and standard on the M235i. The setup is tuned for quick, lively driving rather than maximum comfort.
• Safety package: The Active Driving Assistant suite includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, active blind-spot warning with intervention, and a speed limit information system. The Driving Assistance Package adds adaptive cruise control and a parking-assistant feature.
• Infotainment: The system uses an 8.8-inch touchscreen with iDrive 7.0, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, navigation, connected services, and over-the-air software updates. The Premium Package adds a fully digital 10.25-inch display.
• Fuel efficiency: The test loop returned 27.9 mpg, and BMW quotes 27 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2021 BMW 2 Series trim should I buy?

The 2021 BMW 2 Series is offered in 2 trim levels: 228i and M235i.

Here's the short version:

• 228i: This is the better-value choice if you want the entry point to the lineup with the core BMW experience, strong tech, and the option to add xDrive. It gives you the essential performance and features without pushing the price as high as the more aggressive model.
• M235i: Choose this if you want the more performance-focused version and standard xDrive. It suits you best if you care more about stronger capability and a richer equipment mix than about keeping costs down.

The safety package note to keep in mind is that the Driving Assistance Package adds adaptive cruise control and parking assistance, while the Active Driving Assistant suite covers the rest of the core driver aids.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 BMW 2 Series?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 599 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.41% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 73.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,341, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 BMW 2 Series's resale value?

The current average of $21,341 sits slightly below last year's $23,558.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you can reduce the impact of that softer market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 BMW 2 Series safe?

The 2021 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe misses earning a Top Safety Pick due to headlights that rate either Poor or Marginal, and the vehicle-to-pedestrian test also results in a less than perfect rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Active Driving Assistant suite includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, active blind-spot warning with intervention, and a speed limit information system. The Driving Assistance Package adds adaptive cruise control and a parking-assistant feature that steers the car into a space while you operate the pedals and transmission.

The main caveat is that the IIHS headlight performance keeps it from a top award, so you should pay close attention to lighting equipment and trim content when shopping used.

Should I buy a 2021 BMW 2 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 73% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.41% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines multiple body styles with strong handling and impressive technology.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $22,795, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $21,341 average.
• It offers an affordable entry into BMW ownership with easy-to-use technology.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $24,886, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $21,341 average.
• It brings a refreshed look, larger proportions, and more performance.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price and features, the 2021 is the smart starting point. If you are shopping strictly on budget, the 2021 still looks stronger than the 2020 and far cheaper than the 2022, so it is the most balanced path for most used buyers.
