Is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT earns a 5/5 user rating and a 9/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Performance and Safety.

It stands out as a four-passenger Benz that blends high performance with luxury and a surprising amount of practicality. That makes it a strong fit if you want something exciting to drive without giving up everyday usability.

The main trade-offs are that all-wheel drive is not available, the ride quality is poor, and a manual transmission is not offered. Even so, the car’s fun-to-drive character, strong handling, and powerful engine make it compelling if performance is your priority.

With 28.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price.

Is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT is described as a car that exceeds expectations through its rarity, performance, design, and practicality. Its powertrains are presented as satisfying, and the car is also easy to drive at everyday speeds without punishing occupants.

The performance content also emphasizes that it can be remarkably easy to live with at less than extreme speeds, which is a good sign for day-to-day dependability. If you buy used, the main long-term risk is that a high-performance car like this can be costly to keep in top shape, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any car you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important on a performance model like this, since you want to confirm that the drivetrain, brakes, suspension, and electronics are in good shape. Focus on overall condition, because wear from spirited driving can matter more here than on an ordinary sedan.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GT 43, GT 53, GT 63, and GT 63 S each bring substantial increases in power and performance, while the cabin emphasizes style, luxury, and a four-adult layout with useful hatchback practicality.
• Powertrain: The lineup spans multiple performance levels, and the fastest version uses a hand-built twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 with a nine-speed multi-clutch automatic transmission and performance-tuned 4Matic all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: A Driver Assistance Package is available and adds no fewer than 14 driver-assist features, including Active Emergency Stop Assist, extended re-start functionality, Active Lane Change Assist, and Congestion Emergency Braking.
• Infotainment: MBUX uses two 12.3-inch displays, includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, navigation, wireless connectivity, and a wireless charging pad.
• Fuel efficiency: No MPG or MPGe figure is stated in the provided data.

Which 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT trim should I buy?

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT is offered in 4 trim levels: GT 43, GT 53, GT 63, and GT 63 S.

Here's the short version:

• GT 43: This is the entry point, and it makes the most sense if you want the AMG GT’s style, luxury, and practicality without chasing the most extreme performance.
• GT 53: This is the best-value choice if you want a stronger balance of performance and everyday usability, since the data suggests most shoppers will be satisfied with the GT 43 or GT 53 powertrains.
• GT 63: Choose this if you want a bigger step up in performance and are willing to pay for it.
• GT 63 S: This is the top-performance choice, with the most extreme hardware and the kind of capability that makes sense only if you really want the fastest, most track-focused version.

A Driver Assistance Package is available, and it adds 14 driver-assist features if you want more safety tech.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it’s worth shopping carefully and moving quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 264 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.09% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 81.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $69,967, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT's resale value?

The current average of $74,799 sits slightly below last year's $76,395.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer now, but it also suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation. For a future seller, that means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained.

Because the market still shows meaningful demand and a limited supply of clean examples, a well-kept car should remain easier to move than a neglected one. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT safe?

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

A Driver Assistance Package is available, and it adds no fewer than 14 driver-assist features. Standout items include Active Emergency Stop Assist, extended re-start functionality for stop-and-go traffic, Active Lane Change Assist, and Congestion Emergency Braking.

The main safety caveat is that this package is optional, so you should confirm whether a used example has it equipped before you buy.

Should I buy a 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.09% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It blends high performance with luxury and surprising practicality.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $82,092, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $74,799 average.
• It is described as a raw, razor-sharp sports car built for top-tier performance.

The bottom line: The 2021 is the better primary pick if you want a more affordable AMG GT with strong satisfaction, solid inventory, and a compelling mix of performance and practicality. If you’re a price-sensitive buyer, the 2020 only makes sense if you specifically want its more intense, track-focused character.
