How much does the 2021 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 13.10% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,942 listings available, which gives you a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Jeep Wrangler earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its off-road capability, power, and adventurous character, and they also value the manual features that make it feel engaging. The Wrangler’s identity and rugged appeal come through clearly in the way shoppers use it as a distinctive alternative to more car-like SUVs. The main trade-offs are limited cargo space, a lack of modern tech in some trims, and a few interior quirks.

For you, that means this is a strong fit if you want a vehicle that prioritizes personality, trail ability, and a more traditional SUV experience over everyday polish. The market also shows 36.9% good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle people tend to trust for its off-road capability, power, and comfort, and it also highlights the kind of adventurous character that often keeps owners loyal over time. The expert review also emphasizes that the Wrangler has evolved while staying true to its rugged formula, which supports the idea that it is built for buyers who want something they can count on for a distinctive ownership experience. The available powertrain breadth adds to that sense of durability and flexibility.

For used buyers, the biggest long-term risk is less about the Wrangler’s identity and more about how well a specific example has been maintained and used.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Jeep Wrangler?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on every candidate, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a vehicle-specific record. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the suspension, interior condition, and any signs of hard use, especially if the Jeep has seen trail duty. Focus on how the vehicle has been equipped, because the Wrangler’s trim and option spread can change the ownership experience a lot.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport is the most stripped-down version, with manual door locks, manual side mirrors, black plastic fenders and bumpers, cloth seats, and a basic 5-inch audio display. The Sport S adds power windows and locks, power heated side mirrors, air conditioning, and remote keyless entry, while the Sahara moves toward a more street-oriented setup with dual-zone climate control, upgraded premium cloth upholstery, side-steps, larger brakes, and a 7-inch touchscreen. The Rubicon is the most trail-focused trim, with beefed-up suspension and running gear, two-piece fender flares, and off-road hardware that suits serious use.
• Powertrain: The standard 3.6-liter V6 makes 285 horsepower and can be paired with either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic. Other options include a mild-hybrid version of that V6, a turbocharged four-cylinder, a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6, a plug-in hybrid, and a 6.4-liter V8 in the Rubicon 392. Efficiency varies widely, so the engine choice matters a lot.
• Safety package: Forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring are available, but they are all optional. There is no available lane-departure warning feature, and the base configuration is especially basic.
• Infotainment: The base Sport uses a 5-inch screen, while the 7-inch Uconnect system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is optional on the Sport S and standard on other trims. You can also opt for an 8.4-inch screen, and the larger displays are the ones most shoppers will want.
• Fuel efficiency: The gas V6 with the automatic transmission returns 19 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined. The manual V6 returns 17 mpg city, 23 mpg highway, and 19 mpg combined. The turbo four-cylinder returns 21 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined, while the EcoDiesel returns 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined.

Which 2021 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the most affordable way into the Wrangler, but it is very bare-bones, so you should only choose it if you want the simplest possible setup and plan to add options carefully.
• Sport S: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the everyday conveniences you are most likely to miss, including power windows and locks, air conditioning, and remote keyless entry, while also opening the door to useful packages like the Technology Group.
• Sahara: This is the better pick if you want a more street-friendly Wrangler with a nicer cabin, dual-zone climate control, upgraded upholstery, and the larger touchscreen standard.
• Rubicon: This is the trim to buy if off-road capability is your top priority, since it brings the most serious trail hardware and the most capable setup in the lineup.

The safety content also makes clear that many driver-assistance features remain optional, so you should pay close attention to equipment lists on any trim you consider.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Jeep Wrangler?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you know what you want.

• Deal availability: 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,942 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.10% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 82.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,977, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $26,977 sits slightly below last year's $31,045.

That price movement suggests the Wrangler has become more accessible to used buyers, which can help keep demand active in the near term. For a future seller, that means your resale outcome will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been equipped and maintained. A well-kept Wrangler with desirable features should still attract attention because the model’s appeal is tied to its identity as much as its specs.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety equipment is fairly basic in the base configuration, and several driver-assistance features are optional rather than standard. You can get forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring, but there is no available lane-departure warning feature. The backup camera with dynamic guidelines is helpful, but the overall safety package is not as comprehensive as what you may find in more mainstream SUVs.

Should I buy a 2021 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.10% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines rugged identity with multiple powertrain choices, including a plug-in hybrid and a V8.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $24,655, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $26,977 average.
• It adds a new diesel engine and broadens the powertrain lineup.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $29,393, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $26,977 average.
• It adds open-air versatility with removable doors and a fold-down windshield.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, inventory, and the Wrangler’s core appeal, the 2021 is the strongest all-around choice. If your budget is tighter, the 2020 can save you money, while the 2022 makes sense if you want to spend more for the next model year’s added versatility.
