How much does the 2021 Jeep Renegade cost?

There are 1,507 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Jeep Renegade a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Jeep Renegade earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners consistently point to its great value, comfortable and fun driving experience, and the variety of features it offers. The Renegade also gets credit for its unique Jeep styling and the elevated seating position that suits shorter drivers well.

On the trade-off side, the base engine is underwhelming and the transmission can be irritating. That said, the Renegade’s practical utility and intuitive technology make it a good fit if you want a small SUV that’s easy to live with but still has some adventure-ready character.

Listings data shows 32.8% of inventory is priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Jeep Renegade reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback highlights a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with praise for its comfortable, trouble-free daily use and the kind of long-term appeal that comes from strong value and useful features. The Renegade’s practical setup and intuitive technology also support confidence in everyday ownership.

Its performance content reinforces that it is built for regular use rather than constant drama, with a solid ride quality and a composed feel over rougher surfaces. The most efficient version also pairs its turbo engine with respectable fuel economy, which helps keep day-to-day ownership manageable.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that mechanical annoyances and feature differences by trim can affect satisfaction if you don’t choose carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Jeep Renegade?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or a trim with more equipment. Focus on overall condition, signs of hard use, and whether the features you want are actually present on the specific listing.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport comes with push-button start, dual-zone climate control, a USB port, and a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Jeepster adds keyless passive entry, remote start, 19-inch alloy wheels, and unique badging, while the Latitude adds a second USB port and 17-inch alloy wheels. The Upland adds skid plates and a unique front bumper, the 80th Anniversary adds 19-inch alloy wheels, HD radio, and an 8.4-inch touchscreen with navigation, the Islander adds exclusive hood graphics, white roof panels, and a dual-panel panoramic moonroof, the Limited adds leather upholstery and heated comfort features, and the Trailhawk adds skid plates, tow hooks, a lifted suspension, all-terrain tires, and an upgraded 4WD system.
• Powertrain: The base engine is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. An available turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder makes 177 hp and 210 lb-ft of torque, and both engines use a nine-speed automatic with FWD or available 4WD.
• Safety package: Standard features include automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-path detection. The Trailhawk is the exception for automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and front and rear parking sensors remain extra-cost items.
• Infotainment: The standard screen is 7 inches, while an 8.4-inch screen is optional on some mid-tier trims and standard on higher trims. Both use Uconnect and include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The 1.3-liter turbo with FWD returns 24 mpg city, 32 highway, and 27 combined. With FWD, the 2.4-liter returns 22 mpg city, 30 highway, and 25 combined, while 4WD drops that to 21 mpg city, 29 highway, and 24 combined.

Which 2021 Jeep Renegade trim should I buy?

The 2021 Jeep Renegade is offered in 8 trim levels: Sport, Jeepster, Latitude, Upland, 80th Anniversary, Islander, Limited, and Trailhawk.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, and it already gives you push-button start, dual-zone climate control, a USB port, and the 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Renegade without giving up the core tech.
• Jeepster: This trim adds keyless passive entry, remote start, 19-inch alloy wheels, and unique badging. It’s a good fit if you want a little more convenience and style without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Latitude: This trim keeps the same basic equipment as the Sport but adds a second USB port and 17-inch alloy wheels. It’s the best-value choice if you want a modest upgrade without paying for more specialized equipment.
• Upland: This adventure-minded trim adds skid plates and a unique front bumper, and it comes exclusively with 4WD. Choose it if you want a more rugged look and a bit more trail-ready hardware.
• 80th Anniversary: This trim adds 19-inch alloy wheels, HD radio, and the larger 8.4-inch touchscreen with navigation. It’s the pick if infotainment and a more upscale feel matter more than off-road extras.
• Islander: This limited-edition model adds exclusive hood graphics, white roof panels, a dual-panel panoramic moonroof, and a unique color palette. It’s the style-first choice in the lineup.
• Limited: This is the range-topping luxury trim, with leather upholstery, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, remote start, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and standard 4WD. It’s the right pick if comfort is your priority.
• Trailhawk: This is the capability-focused trim, with skid plates, tow hooks, a lifted suspension, all-terrain tires, and an upgraded 4WD system. It’s the one to buy if you want the Renegade’s strongest off-road hardware.

Jeep makes several advanced safety features standard across the lineup, but the Trailhawk is the exception for automatic emergency braking.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Jeep Renegade?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,507 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.38% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 75.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,974, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Jeep Renegade's resale value?

The current average of $15,974 sits slightly below last year's $18,026.

That decline suggests the Renegade is currently more buyer-friendly than seller-friendly, which can help you if you’re shopping now but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. A softer market often means future sellers need to be more competitive on price and condition to stand out.

Even so, the Renegade’s distinctive styling and strong owner satisfaction can help support demand. Well-kept examples with the right trim and features should remain easier to move than neglected ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Jeep Renegade safe?

The 2021 Jeep Renegade earns four-star ratings from NHTSA in crash tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep made automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-path detection standard across the lineup. Adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and front and rear parking sensors still cost extra, and the Trailhawk is the exception for automatic emergency braking.

That standard safety equipment is a meaningful strength, but the four-star NHTSA result is worth keeping in mind if crash-test performance is a top priority.

Should I buy a 2021 Jeep Renegade or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.38% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 brings standard advanced safety features across the lineup.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $14,512, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $15,974 average.
• It emphasizes personality and Trail Rated capability more than plain practicality.

The bottom line: Choose the 2021 if you want the stronger shopping environment, newer standard safety equipment, and a well-rounded used SUV with broad appeal. If your main goal is to spend less, the 2020 is the better value play, especially if you’re willing to trade some refinement for a lower entry price.
