Used 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L for Sale nearSanta Fe, NM

How much does the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L cost?

Prices have softened 13.04% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,839 listings available, which gives you a meaningful pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L a good car?

Yes — it earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

You get a strong mix of comfortable ride quality, space, and high-tech features, and the feedback also points to handling and performance in snow as recurring strengths. The overview frames it as a three-row Jeep that brings family-focused practicality without giving up the brand’s utility-first character.

The main trade-offs are the underwhelming base engine and the lack of standard advanced safety features, along with poor fuel economy. Even so, the market still shows 36.1% good or great deals, which suggests you can shop selectively and still find value.

Is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with drivers repeatedly praising the comfortable ride, space, and high-tech features. The review also highlights value for families, which usually matters when you’re thinking about day-to-day dependability over time.

The expert evaluation adds that Jeep’s customer care program includes three free oil changes and tire rotations within the first 36 months, plus roadside assistance during the five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty period. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that higher-mileage examples may have been used hard, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a documented ownership record. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on wear, electronics, and any signs the SUV has been used heavily. Since this model is available in multiple trims, make sure the equipment level matches what you expect before you commit.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Grand Cherokee L is offered in Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve specification. The base setup is the most stripped-down, while higher trims add more luxury and technology; the Summit trim also brings standard Intersection Collision Assist.
• Powertrain: Every model comes with a 3.6-liter V6 with 293 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive or one of three 4WD systems. A 5.7-liter V8 is optional on Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve with 4WD only.
• Safety package: Active Driving Assist combines adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and lane-centering assistance. Intersection Collision Assist is standard on Summit models, and Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist is available.
• Infotainment: Uconnect 5 is offered with 8.4-inch or 10.1-inch touchscreens. It includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Alexa compatibility, satellite radio, connected services, and a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard V6 is rated at 21 mpg in combined driving, while the optional V8 drops to 17 mpg combined. In testing, the Summit 4WD averaged 17.8 mpg on the loop.

Which 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L trim should I buy?

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L is offered in 6 trim levels: Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Grand Cherokee L’s space and design without paying for extra luxury features. It gives you the core three-row setup, but you’ll want to step up if you care about richer materials or more advanced equipment.
• Altitude: This trim adds a more upscale look while staying below the higher luxury grades. It’s a good fit if you want a nicer appearance and still want to keep the price in check.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim. The cost-effectiveness section specifically recommends it as the sweet spot for style, equipment, and value, so it’s the one to target if you want the most balanced buy.
• Overland: This trim is the gateway to the optional V8 and is also the trim tied to the only Trail Rated version when equipped with the Off-Road Group. Choose it if you want more capability and are willing to pay for it.
• Summit: This is where the Grand Cherokee L leans hard into luxury and technology. It also adds standard Intersection Collision Assist, but the value equation starts to weaken at this level.
• Summit Reserve: This is the top-end choice for shoppers who want the most premium version of the Grand Cherokee L. It sits at the far end of the price range, so it makes the most sense if you want maximum equipment and are comfortable paying for it.

Advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup, so check the exact trim and option content carefully before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L?

This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.

• Deal availability: 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,839 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.04% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 81.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,378, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L's resale value?

The current average of $25,378 sits slightly below last year's $29,183.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, it means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than assuming the model will hold its price automatically.

The good news is that demand is still supported by the model’s strong owner satisfaction and broad appeal as a three-row Jeep. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L safe?

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

It comes with Active Driving Assist, a hands-on system that combines adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and lane-centering assistance. Jeep also offers Intersection Collision Assist, which is standard on Summit models, and Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist is available.

The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup, so you need to check trim and option content carefully. The expert review also notes that Active Driving Assist is good, but not great, because the steering assist can feel artificial.

Should I buy a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 is the first Grand Cherokee L, bringing Jeep’s three-row SUV back with strong handling, premium materials, and impressive technology.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $27,227, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $25,378 average.
• It adds a more upscale feel and a more polished everyday experience.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2021 is the stronger starting point because pricing has softened and the model already delivers the core three-row Jeep appeal. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model-year experience, the 2022 is the cleaner alternative.
