How much does the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L cost?

Prices have softened 13.01% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,798 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of used examples to compare.

Is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Drivers consistently praise its comfortable ride, space, high-tech features, handling, and value for families. The review summary also points to strong performance in snow, which adds to its appeal if you need a family SUV that can handle varied conditions.

The trade-offs are clear: the base engine is underwhelming, advanced safety features are not standard, and fuel economy is poor. Even so, the Grand Cherokee L is aimed at you if you want a three-row Jeep with more everyday usefulness than the brand’s traditional two-row SUVs.

The market backs that up, with 36.4% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a comfortable, dependable-feeling SUV that many owners feel good about living with over time. The review summary also highlights value for families, which usually matters when you’re counting on a vehicle for daily duty and long trips.

The expert review adds that Jeep’s ownership program includes three free oil changes and tire rotations within the first 36 months, plus roadside assistance during the five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty period. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that higher-mileage examples may show wear in the expensive features that make this SUV appealing.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status does not guarantee perfect condition. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the cabin, electronics, and suspension, since this model leans heavily on premium features and a more complex chassis. It also makes sense to confirm that the equipment you want is actually present, because some desirable safety and tech items are trim-dependent.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Grand Cherokee L ranges from Laredo to Summit Reserve, and the base trims are where you’re most likely to miss out on the richer materials and equipment that make this SUV feel upscale.
• Powertrain: Every model uses a 3.6-liter V6 with 293 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive or one of three 4WD systems; a 5.7-liter V8 is optional on Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve with 4WD only.
• Safety package: Active Driving Assist combines adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and lane-centering assistance, while Intersection Collision Assist is standard on Summit models; Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist is also available.
• Infotainment: Uconnect 5 comes with 8.4-inch or 10.1-inch touchscreen options, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Alexa compatibility, and a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 is rated at 21 mpg combined, while the optional V8 drops to 17 mpg combined.

Which 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L trim should I buy?

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L is offered in 6 trim levels: Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point, but it’s the trim most likely to leave you wanting more of the upscale feel and equipment that define the Grand Cherokee L.
• Altitude: This is a step up if you want a little more style without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim, because the review specifically calls it the sweet spot for style, equipment, and value.
• Overland: Choose this if you want a more premium setup and the option to add the V8, though it sits higher in the lineup.
• Summit: This trim brings more luxury and standard equipment, including Intersection Collision Assist, but the value equation starts to weaken.
• Summit Reserve: This is the top-end choice if you want the most lavish version, but it’s aimed at buyers who are comfortable paying a lot more.

Advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup, so check carefully that the trim you’re considering includes the driver-assistance equipment you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you have room to shop carefully without rushing.

• Deal availability: 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,798 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.01% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 80.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,247, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L's resale value?

The current average of $25,247 sits slightly below last year's $29,023.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at today’s average or below, you’re starting from a more favorable price base than someone who bought when values were higher.

For a future seller, the key question is whether the market stabilizes or keeps easing. Well-equipped examples with strong condition and desirable features should hold up better than higher-priced trims that are competing against newer luxury SUVs.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L safe?

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Active Driving Assist is the main driver-assistance suite, and it combines adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and lane-centering assistance. Intersection Collision Assist is standard on Summit models, and Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist is also available. Advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup, so you should confirm the exact equipment on any used example you’re considering.

The safety writeup also notes that crash-test ratings were unavailable at the time of review, so you should lean more heavily on the equipment list and the vehicle’s condition when shopping.

Should I buy a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.01% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 is the first Grand Cherokee L, giving Jeep its long-missing three-row SUV.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $27,096, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $25,247 average.
• It adds a more polished feel and wireless smartphone integration.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2021 is the smarter starting point because prices have softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model with a more polished presentation, the 2022 is the better alternative.
