How much does the 2021 Hyundai Kona cost?

There are 1,195 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2021 Hyundai Kona a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Hyundai Kona earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its great value, smooth driving, and useful features like blind spot detection. The Kona also stands out for its great handling and easy-to-use technology, which makes it appealing if you want something simple to live with but still engaging on the road.

The main trade-offs are a cramped back seat and an underwhelming base engine. It also leans more toward style and personality than maximum practicality, so it fits you best if you want a small crossover with character rather than the roomiest or most powerful option.

Good and great deals account for 33.6% of listings, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2021 Hyundai Kona reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe the Kona as a vehicle they feel good about living with over time, and they also point to its smooth driving and useful features as part of that positive ownership experience. The expert evaluation also highlights the Kona’s long warranty coverage, which supports confidence in day-to-day dependability.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about finding one that has been cared for well, since condition and maintenance history will matter most.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Hyundai Kona?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior damage, and whether the features you want are actually present on the trim you’re looking at.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Kona’s styling is playful and distinctive, and higher trims add leather on the steering wheel and seats. Base-trim equipment is simpler, so make sure the features you want are included before you commit.
• Powertrain: The base model uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque, while the optional turbocharged 1.6-liter engine makes 195 hp and 195 lb-ft. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available.
• Safety package: Every Kona comes with forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, a driver attention warning system, and rear occupant alert. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a head-up display, and parking sensors are optional.
• Infotainment: Standard tech includes an eight-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, six speakers, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and USB inputs. Available upgrades include SiriusXM radio, navigation, wireless device charging, a Harman Kardon audio system, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen.
• Fuel efficiency: With front-wheel drive and the base engine, the Kona returns an EPA-estimated 27/33/30 mpg city/highway/combined. With all-wheel drive and the base engine, it returns 25/30/27 mpg. The turbo engine with front-wheel drive delivers 28/32/30 mpg, and with all-wheel drive it returns 26/29/27 mpg.

Which 2021 Hyundai Kona trim should I buy?

The 2021 Hyundai Kona is offered in 6 trim levels: SE, SEL, SEL Plus, Night Edition, Limited, and Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Kona’s styling, standard safety tech, and easy-to-use infotainment at the lowest cost.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more everyday appeal without pushing you too far up the price ladder.
• SEL Plus: Choose this if you want a more feature-rich middle ground and are willing to pay for extra equipment.
• Night Edition: This is the style-focused choice, with Rays semi-gloss black 18-inch wheels plus gloss black exterior and interior accents.
• Limited: This is the trim to target if you want a more upscale feel and are comfortable paying more for it.
• Ultimate: Pick this if you want the most equipment and the broadest feature set in the lineup.

The safety package is strong across the lineup, but some features remain optional rather than standard, so check each trim carefully.
