Used 2021 Honda HR-V for Sale nearColumbia, SC

How much does the 2021 Honda HR-V cost?

Prices have softened 1.66% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,291 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Honda HR-V a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Honda HR-V earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Form and function.

Drivers consistently praise its comfort, reliability, and value for money, and they also like its practical size and useful feature set. The HR-V’s small-SUV packaging and easy-to-live-with character fit well if you want something compact without giving up a higher driving position or everyday usefulness.

The trade-offs are clear: it can feel short on power, and the technology is dated by current standards. Even so, it remains a sensible choice if you care more about comfort, practicality, and value than about having the newest cabin tech.

With 33.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Honda HR-V reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as reliable and a good vehicle to count on, with a reputation for being dependable over time. The ownership story is reinforced by the HR-V’s practical, low-drama character and the way shoppers tend to value it for long-term usefulness rather than flash.

The expert evaluation also points to a solid, easy-to-live-with small SUV that has proven itself over time, even if it is not the most modern-feeling option. Honda’s warranty coverage is competitive for the class, which helps, but used buyers should still pay attention to maintenance records and overall condition because age and mileage matter more on a model that has not been heavily updated.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda HR-V?

At 67.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then focus your inspection on body condition, repair quality, and signs of prior damage. Because the HR-V’s technology is dated and visibility is a known drawback, it also makes sense to test every feature carefully and make sure the cabin, cameras, and driver aids work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Base LX models miss out on fog lights, push-button start, automatic climate control, a moonroof, heated front seats, and leather upholstery, while EX and EX-L trims add those comfort and convenience upgrades.
• Powertrain: The HR-V uses a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with 141 horsepower and 127 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT; front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is available.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard only on the EX and EX-L trims, and it includes forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, Road Departure Mitigation, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and LaneWatch.
• Infotainment: The LX gets a 5-inch display, Bluetooth, and a four-speaker audio system, while Sport and higher trims add a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; EX and EX-L also add SiriusXM satellite radio.
• Fuel efficiency: The HR-V is rated at 30 mpg combined with front-wheel drive, and all-wheel-drive versions are rated at 29 mpg combined in LX trim and 28 mpg combined in Sport, EX, and EX-L spec.

Which 2021 Honda HR-V trim should I buy?

The 2021 Honda HR-V is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, and EX-L.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the least expensive way into the HR-V, but it is also the most stripped-down. You get the basics, yet you miss out on the infotainment upgrade, fog lights, and the comfort and safety equipment that make the higher trims easier to recommend.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus the styling upgrades that make the HR-V feel less bare-bones. If you want the most useful mix of price and everyday tech, this is the trim to target.
• EX: This is the smart step-up if you want Honda Sensing and more comfort features. It adds push-button start, automatic climate control, a moonroof, heated front seats, and the full driver-assistance suite, making it the trim where the HR-V starts to feel properly equipped.
• EX-L: This is the most upscale choice, adding leather upholstery on top of the EX equipment. It makes sense if you want the nicest cabin in the lineup and are willing to pay more for it.

Honda Sensing is standard only on the EX and EX-L trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda HR-V?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,291 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.66% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 67.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,429, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Honda HR-V's resale value?

The current average of $19,210 sits slightly below last year's $19,536.

That softer pricing suggests the HR-V has become a bit easier to buy than it was a year ago, which can help you as a shopper today. For a future seller, it means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim choice rather than on broad market momentum alone.

The good news is that the HR-V still has a loyal audience because it is practical, comfortable, and efficient for a small SUV. If you keep it clean, well maintained, and documented, you should be in a better position when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Honda HR-V safe?

The 2021 Honda HR-V received top “Good” scores in all Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) crash tests, but got “Marginal” and “Poor” headlight ratings depending on trim level, and an “Acceptable” rating for LATCH child-seat anchor ease of use. It earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side crash and all other NHTSA tests.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is the named driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, Road Departure Mitigation, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and LaneWatch. The catch is that it is standard only on the EX and EX-L trims, so lower trims miss out on that full safety package.

The headlight ratings are the main caveat to keep in mind, especially if you drive often at night. If safety is a top priority, you should focus on trims that include Honda Sensing and verify the headlight setup on the specific vehicle you are considering.

Should I buy a 2021 Honda HR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.66% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 model carries over the LX, Sport, EX, and EX-L lineup with only minor changes, so you are not missing a major redesign.

The bottom line: If you want the HR-V’s practical packaging, comfortable ride, and strong owner satisfaction, the 2021 is a sensible used buy. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby model years to see whether a lower-mileage or better-equipped example gives you more value for the money.
