Why it stands out
The 2021 Honda Accord stands out as one of the bestselling cars in the U.S. for good reason. For the 2021 model year, Honda took the Accord in a more elevated direction by refining its features list, adding a trim level, and pricing it to compete against other heavyweights in the industry. Honda also made safety a priority in the 2021 Accord, helping this fresh version earn high praise.
It has several clear strengths that help explain its appeal. The Accord is stylish, handles well, and offers a spacious cabin. At the same time, it does have a couple of drawbacks: all-wheel drive is not available, and its technology is described as outdated.

I think the car has all features that I needed . Because of the low miles and condition I think it was great value. Only thing it was missing was a sunroof . the most similar options are the camry xse and bmw 3 Series.

My second Accord, this was to replace a 2018 that was totaled in an accident. I've driven a Camry, K5, Buick Regal, Altima, and several other sedans and this is the best built in a world with fewer and fewer available

| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $21,577 |
| Year-Round Low | $21,577 |
| Year-Round High | $23,072 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $23,053 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −6.40% |
Prices have softened 6.40% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 3,068 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for you to compare prices and trims.
Is the 2021 Honda Accord a good car?
Yes — the 2021 Honda Accord earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 9.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.
Drivers consistently praise its great performance, luxurious features, and good gas mileage. The review summary also points to a modern look and technology, along with a car that feels polished and well-rounded for everyday use.
The main trade-offs are that it is not the fastest model available and that pricing can feel high for the features offered. In practical terms, it fits you best if you want a stylish, spacious sedan that balances comfort and value rather than outright speed.
Only 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is somewhat selective even with healthy inventory.
Is the 2021 Honda Accord reliable?
Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The review summary points to a car that drivers feel good about living with over time, with praise centered on its dependable feel, good gas mileage, and overall positive ownership experience. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that Honda has refined the Accord’s features list and positioned it as a strong everyday choice with broad appeal.
Honda also highlights improved idle-stop behavior for quicker restarts when you release the brake, which supports a smoother day-to-day driving experience. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about a single glaring flaw and more about making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda Accord?
At 63.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a close inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and signs of prior repair. It also makes sense to focus on the condition of the interior electronics, since the model’s technology is described as a weaker point. If you are comparing trims, pay attention to which features are standard versus added higher up the range.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base model is the LX, and it is the one trim that does not get LED headlights and lowlights, while higher trims add more upscale exterior and interior touches.
- Powertrain: The Accord uses a 192-horsepower turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder on LX, Sport, Sport SE, and EX-L, while Sport 2.0T and Touring use a 252-hp 2.0-liter turbo-four with a 10-speed automatic.
- Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high beams; blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert arrives on higher trims.
- Infotainment: Every Accord gets an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, hands-free text messaging, and two USB ports; wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto appear on higher grades.
- Fuel efficiency: The 1.5-liter engine is rated at 30 mpg city, 38 mpg highway, and 33 mpg combined, while the 2.0-liter returns 22 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 26 mpg combined.
Which 2021 Honda Accord trim should I buy?
The 2021 Honda Accord is offered in 6 trim levels: LX, Sport 1.5T, Sport Special Edition (SE), EX-L, Sport 2.0T, and Touring.
Here's the short version:
- LX: This is the entry point, and it makes the Accord’s core strengths accessible with the standard safety suite, 8-inch touchscreen, and the efficient 1.5-liter turbo engine.
- Sport 1.5T: This is the best-value pick if you want a more expressive look and a stronger feature set without jumping to the pricier powertrain.
- Sport Special Edition (SE): This trim adds leather-trimmed seats, heated front seats, a power-adjustable passenger seat, a more adjustable driver’s seat, heated mirrors, keyless entry, and remote engine start, making it the sweet spot for comfort and convenience.
- EX-L: This is the better choice if you want a more upscale feel, with leather trim and access to the power moonroof.
- Sport 2.0T: Choose this if you want the more powerful 2.0-liter turbo engine and a more engaging drive.
- Touring: This is the top trim for you if you want the most equipment, including the head-up display, premium audio, and the fullest tech and comfort content.
Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, while blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert and parking sensors arrive on higher trims.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda Accord?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without waiting for a dramatic bargain.
- Deal availability: 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 3,068 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.40% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 63.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,577, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Honda Accord's resale value?
The current average of $21,577 sits slightly below last year's $23,053.
That decline suggests the market has become a bit more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of preserving value later because you are entering at a softer point in the pricing cycle. Trim choice and condition will matter a lot when it comes time to resell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Honda Accord safe?
The 2021 Honda Accord earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS and a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in all crash testing scenarios.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Honda Sensing is standard and includes lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high beams. Standard safety equipment also includes vehicle stability assist with traction control, brake assist, a rearview camera, and LED daytime running lights. Higher trims add rear-seat reminder, low-speed braking control, blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, and parking sensors.
Should I buy a 2021 Honda Accord or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 63.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.40% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- Honda refined the Accord’s features list, added a trim level, and made safety a priority.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $20,121, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $21,577 average.
- It combines strong looks, engaging driving dynamics, and a notably useful cabin.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around package, the 2021 is the better target because it brings updated features, strong safety, and broad appeal. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2020 is the smarter value play, especially if you find one in excellent condition.
