CarGurus Analysis: 2021 Honda Accord
overall

Summary
With 3,097 currently listed for sale and an average price of $21,948.00, 29.5% of 2021 Honda Accords for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Honda Accord 4.6 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 9.17 / 10.
64.3% of 2021 Accord models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2021 Honda Accord stands out as one of the bestselling cars in the U.S. for good reason. For the 2021 model year, Honda took the Accord in a more elevated direction by refining its features list, adding a trim level, and pricing it to compete against other heavyweights in the industry. Honda also made safety a priority in the 2021 Accord, helping this fresh version earn high praise.
Beyond those updates, the Accord’s appeal comes through in its stylish design, great handling, and spacious cabin. Those strengths make it an easy car to recommend for buyers who want a well-rounded sedan with a polished feel. The main drawbacks are that all-wheel drive is not available and the technology is outdated, so shoppers looking for the latest tech or extra traction may want to keep those limits in mind.

I think the car has all features that I needed . Because of the low miles and condition I think it was great value. Only thing it was missing was a sunroof . the most similar options are the camry xse and bmw 3 Series.

My second Accord, this was to replace a 2018 that was totaled in an accident. I've driven a Camry, K5, Buick Regal, Altima, and several other sedans and this is the best built in a world with fewer and fewer available

Yes — the 2021 Honda Accord earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 9.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.
Drivers consistently praise its great performance, luxurious features, and good gas mileage. They also like the modern look and technology, even if some feel it is not the fastest option in the class.
That lines up with the overview: you get a polished sedan with stylish design, great handling, and a spacious cabin. The main trade-offs are that all-wheel drive is not available and the technology is outdated, so it fits you best if you value balance and everyday comfort over the latest features.
With 25.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.
Is the 2021 Honda Accord reliable?
Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with strong gas mileage and a reputation that encourages confidence over the long haul. That kind of feedback matters if you want a used sedan you can count on for routine commuting and family duty.
Honda also emphasizes smooth, measured operation in the driving notes, including improved idle-stop behavior and more refined braking response. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about choosing a well-kept example with the right maintenance history.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda Accord?
At 64.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in a collision or shows uneven wear. Focus on body condition, panel alignment, tire wear, and signs that the cabin electronics and safety systems work as intended.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The LX is the base model, and the higher trims add features such as LED headlights and lowlights, leather-trimmed seating on select versions, a power moonroof on select trims, and more upscale wheel designs.
- Powertrain: You get a 192-horsepower turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder with a CVT on LX, Sport, Sport SE, and EX-L, or a 252-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo-four with a 10-speed automatic on Sport 2.0T and Touring. Both engines run on regular unleaded fuel, and the smaller engine is the more efficient choice.
- Safety package: Every Accord includes Honda Sensing with lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high beams. Higher trims add rear-seat reminder, low-speed braking control, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert.
- Infotainment: Every Accord gets an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and two USB ports. Higher trims add wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, WiFi hotspot capability, and a 10-speaker premium audio system.
- Fuel efficiency: The 1.5-liter engine is rated at 30 mpg city, 38 mpg highway, and 33 mpg combined, while the 2.0-liter engine returns 22 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 26 mpg combined.
Which 2021 Honda Accord trim should I buy?
The 2021 Honda Accord is offered in 6 trim levels: LX, Sport 1.5T, Sport Special Edition (SE), EX-L, Sport 2.0T, and Touring.
Here's the short version:
- LX: This is the value play if you want the Accord’s core strengths at the lowest entry point. You still get the standard safety suite, the 8-inch touchscreen, and the efficient 1.5-liter turbo engine, so it covers the basics well.
- Sport 1.5T: This is the better pick if you want a more stylish look and a little more personality without moving too far up the price ladder. It adds the sportier appearance and keeps the efficient powertrain, making it a sensible middle ground.
- Sport Special Edition (SE): This is the best-value trim if you want the most noticeable comfort upgrade for the money. It adds leather-trimmed seats, heated front seats, a power-adjustable passenger seat, a 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated mirrors, keyless entry, and remote engine start.
- EX-L: This is the trim to target if you want a more upscale feel and more available convenience features. It also opens the door to the power moonroof and adds more premium touches without jumping all the way to the top end.
- Sport 2.0T: Choose this if you want the stronger 2.0-liter engine and a more engaging drive. It is the right fit if performance matters more to you than maximum fuel economy.
- Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, with the strongest mix of luxury and tech features, including the head-up display and HomeLink Remote. It makes sense if you want the most complete Accord experience.
Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, while blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic alert arrive on higher trims.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda Accord?

- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.92% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 64.2% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,645.93, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Honda Accord's resale value?
The current average of $21,940 sits slightly below last year's $23,319.
That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim choice rather than broad market momentum alone.
Because the Accord still draws strong owner satisfaction, demand should remain healthy for clean, well-maintained examples. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Honda Accord safe?
The Accord earns Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS and a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Every Accord comes with Honda Sensing, which includes lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high beams. Standard safety equipment also includes vehicle stability assist with traction control, brake assist, a rearview camera, and LED daytime running lights.
Higher trims add rear-seat reminder, low-speed braking control, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert. The EX-L and Touring also add parking sensors, with more sensors on the Touring.
Should I buy a 2021 Honda Accord or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 25.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 64.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.92% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- Honda’s 2021 refresh adds a more refined feature set and a stronger safety emphasis.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $20,307, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $21,940 average.
- It feels polished, practical, and especially strong on comfort and usability.
The bottom line: If you want the better-rounded shopping target, the 2021 is the stronger pick because it brings the refreshed feature set and still sits in a softened price environment. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2020 is the smarter value play, especially if you find a clean example with the equipment you want.
