How much does the 2021 Genesis G80 cost?

Prices have softened 1.08% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 193 listings available, which gives you a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Genesis G80 a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Genesis G80 earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its impressive luxury features, smooth ride, and value for money, and they also highlight its sophisticated design and spaciousness. The review summary also points to heated second-row seats as a notable comfort feature.

On the downside, experts call the base engine underwhelming, so you may want to look beyond the entry setup if stronger acceleration matters to you. Even so, the G80’s mix of distinctive styling, premium materials, and technology makes it a strong fit if you want a midsize luxury sedan that feels less conventional than many rivals.

With 33.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2021 Genesis G80 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with reviews emphasizing a generally positive, trouble-free impression and strong confidence in the car over time. That kind of feedback matters if you want a used luxury sedan you can count on.

Genesis also backs the car with free maintenance, free service valet with a loaner vehicle, and three years or 36,000 miles of connected services, which helps reduce early ownership hassle. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained properly and hasn’t been neglected between service intervals.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Genesis G80?

At 73.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage or lower-priced example. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car’s equipment and driver-assistance features work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Prestige Package adds premium Nappa leather, a microfiber suede headliner, open-pore wood trim, a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel, and a 12-inch head-up display, while the base setup is less richly equipped.
• Powertrain: The standard turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder makes 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, while the twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 makes 375 hp and 391 lb-ft; both use an eight-speed automatic transmission.
• Safety package: Every G80 includes a long list of driver-assist features, including collision avoidance tech, smart adaptive cruise control with machine learning, Safe Exit System, Leading Vehicle Departure Alert, Highway Driving Assist II, 10 airbags, a center-mounted airbag, Pre-Active Safety Seat, and Rear Occupant Alert; the Prestige Package adds Forward Attention Warning, Blind Spot View Monitor, surround-view camera, and Remote Smart Parking Assist.
• Infotainment: Every G80 has a 14.5-inch widescreen infotainment system with SiriusXM, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, voice control, and available wireless smartphone charging; the Prestige Package adds the digital gauge display and head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The 3.5T AWD test vehicle returned 22.4 mpg on the review loop, and the EPA estimate cited for that setup was 21 mpg combined.

Which 2021 Genesis G80 trim should I buy?

The 2021 Genesis G80 is offered in 2 trim levels: 2.5T and 3.5T.

Here's the short version:

• 2.5T: This is the entry point and the best-value choice if you want the G80’s design, luxury feel, and standard tech without paying for the stronger engine. It still gives you the core G80 experience, but the base engine is the main compromise.
• 3.5T: This is the better pick if you want the more powerful twin-turbo V6 and the more polished overall driving experience. It suits you best if performance matters more than keeping the purchase price down.

The Prestige Package adds several safety and convenience upgrades, including Forward Attention Warning, Blind Spot View Monitor, surround-view camera, and Remote Smart Parking Assist.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Genesis G80?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 193 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.08% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 73.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,100, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Genesis G80's resale value?

The current average of $30,369 sits slightly below last year's $30,701.

That modest decline suggests the market has softened a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the current pricing trend points to steady but not rising value.

The G80’s strong owner satisfaction should help support demand when you eventually sell. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Genesis G80 safe?

The 2021 Genesis G80 earns the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Genesis equips every G80 with a long list of driver-assistance features, including collision avoidance tech, smart adaptive cruise control with machine learning, Safe Exit System, Leading Vehicle Departure Alert, Highway Driving Assist II, 10 airbags, a center-mounted airbag, Pre-Active Safety Seat, and Rear Occupant Alert. The Prestige Package adds Forward Attention Warning, Blind Spot View Monitor, a surround-view camera, and Remote Smart Parking Assist.

One caveat is that the review notes the redesigned G80 had not been crash-tested at the time of publication, so you should still pay close attention to the specific safety equipment on the car you’re considering.
