How much does the 2021 GMC Yukon XL cost?

Prices have softened 14.08% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,520 listings available, which suggests you should have a solid range of options to compare.

Is the 2021 GMC Yukon XL a good car?

Yes — the 2021 GMC Yukon XL earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to very strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its luxury feel, spacious interior, and comfort on long trips, and many also like how agile it feels despite its large size. It is especially appealing if you want a full-size SUV that prioritizes passenger room and cargo space while still feeling upscale and capable. With 37.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is also meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2021 GMC Yukon XL reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also emphasizes a dependable, comfortable ownership experience, with praise for its long-trip comfort and overall satisfaction. Some buyers note concerns about braking and prefer the diesel option over the gasoline engines, so you should pay close attention to maintenance history and how the vehicle has been used. For used buyers, that means the biggest long-term risk is less about the model’s appeal and more about finding one that has been properly cared for.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 GMC Yukon XL?

At 73.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a full vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from those with prior damage. Then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially for braking condition, suspension wear, and signs of heavy family or towing use. Because this is a large, premium SUV, you will want to focus on overall condition and maintenance records as much as mileage.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 GMC Yukon XL?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you shop with patience.

• Deal availability: 37.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,520 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.08% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 73.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $40,026, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 GMC Yukon XL's resale value?

The current average of $40,026 sits slightly below last year's $46,587.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained. Well-kept examples should hold up better than average because shoppers in this segment tend to reward space, comfort, and premium features.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2021 GMC Yukon XL or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 37.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 73.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.08% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the most modern-feeling Yukon XL in this comparison set, the 2021 is the stronger primary choice because it combines updated ride quality, strong owner satisfaction, and a softer price than last year. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby older year may be worth considering, but you should expect to trade away some of the 2021’s refinement and market momentum.
