Used 2021 GMC Yukon for Sale nearChicago, IL

How much does the 2021 GMC Yukon cost?

Prices have softened 14.94% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,457 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 GMC Yukon a good car?

Yes — the 2021 GMC Yukon earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the luxurious feel, spacious interior, and impressive tech features, and many say the ride is extremely comfortable. The Yukon also stands out for its roomy cabin and strong overall presence, which fits buyers who want a large SUV with a premium feel and plenty of space.

The trade-offs are that the expert review points to poor fuel economy and uncomfortable seats, along with interior materials that feel cheap. Even so, the Yukon’s redesign makes it a strong fit if you want a full-size SUV with a spacious third row, plenty of cargo space, and a powerful engine.

Good and great deals account for 32.5% of listings, so there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2021 GMC Yukon reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with people especially appreciating the Yukon’s comfort, space, and tech. The expert review also describes the SUV as capable and refined in daily driving, which supports the sense that it’s built to handle regular use well.

The standard maintenance and ownership experience should still be checked carefully on any used example, especially given the model’s size, complexity, and premium equipment. For used buyers, that means a thorough service-history review matters as much as the odometer reading.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 GMC Yukon?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on every listing and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on higher-mileage or heavily optioned trucks. Focus on seat condition, infotainment operation, and signs of hard use, since those are the kinds of issues that can matter most in a large family SUV.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali trims span the lineup, with the Denali standing apart through its exclusive dashboard design, real wood trim, leather-wrapped panels, unique interior stitching and piping, and the Ultimate Package’s panoramic sunroof. The AT4 is the off-road-focused trim, with improved approach angle, skid plates, and all-terrain tires.
• Powertrain: Three engines are available: a standard 355-horsepower 5.3-liter V8 on all but the Denali, a 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 standard in the Denali, and an optional 3.0-liter turbo-diesel inline six-cylinder for every Yukon except the AT4. The 6.2-liter V8 delivers robust acceleration, but fuel economy is not its strong suit.
• Safety package: Standard features include forward collision warning, daytime pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking below 50 mph, automatic high-beam headlights, Teen Driver, a rear-seat reminder, and automatic crash response and crisis assistance through OnStar. Starting with SLT, you also get blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assistance. Rear pedestrian alert is available on SLT and AT4 and standard on Denali, while adaptive cruise control and enhanced automatic emergency braking above 50 mph require Denali.
• Infotainment: All 2021 Yukons get a 10.2-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, Amazon Alexa integration, over-the-air updates, and access to connected services. Available upgrades include wireless device charging, navigation, a 14-speaker Bose Performance Series audio system, and rear-seat media with dual 12.6-inch displays.
• Fuel efficiency: The 6.2-liter V8 with 4WD is EPA-rated at 14 mpg city, 19 highway, and 16 combined. In testing, it averaged 14.4 mpg on one loop and 16.2 mpg on another.

Which 2021 GMC Yukon trim should I buy?

The 2021 GMC Yukon is offered in 4 trim levels: SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali.

Here's the short version:

• SLE: This is the entry point if you want the Yukon’s space, standard 10.2-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and core safety tech without paying for the higher-end luxury and convenience upgrades.
• SLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and rear pedestrian alert availability while staying below the Denali’s price and complexity.
• AT4: Choose this if you want the off-road-oriented version, since it adds an improved approach angle, skid plates, and all-terrain tires.
• Denali: This is the luxury pick, with the exclusive dashboard design, real wood trim, leather-wrapped panels, unique stitching and piping, and the strongest available engine. It also gets adaptive cruise control and enhanced automatic emergency braking.

The safety package starts with solid standard equipment, but some of the most advanced driver-assistance features are reserved for Denali.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 GMC Yukon?

• Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,457 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.94% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 78.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $41,209, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 GMC Yukon's resale value?

The current average of $41,209 sits slightly below last year's $48,447.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level rather than just the model name alone.

Because the price range has softened, a well-kept Yukon with desirable features should still attract attention from shoppers who want a large, premium-feeling SUV. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2021 GMC Yukon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.94% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesign brings more passenger space, more cargo space, and a significant technology upgrade.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $46,227, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $41,209 average.
• It adds a standard 12-inch driver information center and enhanced connectivity.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2021 is the stronger buy because it combines a lower average price with a redesigned cabin and strong owner satisfaction. If you’re willing to pay more for the next model year’s added connectivity and display upgrade, the 2022 is the cleaner alternative.
