How much does the 2021 GMC Sierra 2500HD cost?

Prices have softened 5.97% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,958 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 GMC Sierra 2500HD a good car?

Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. The 2021 Sierra 2500HD stands out as a heavy-duty pickup that leans more upscale than many rivals, with more trim levels than the related Silverado 2500HD and a broader range of upscale options and features. If you want a three-quarter-ton truck that can be configured for work, luxury, or a mix of both, this model year gives you that flexibility. The market also shows 33.6% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2021 GMC Sierra 2500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2021 Sierra 2500HD is described as a capable heavy-duty truck, but used buyers should pay close attention to known trouble spots such as check engine lights tied to diesel particulate filters or emissions sensors, sluggish infotainment responses, rough or delayed shifts, electrical glitches, MultiPro tailgate flaws, and faulty trailer brake controllers. That means reliability can depend heavily on how well a specific truck was maintained and whether its systems have been properly repaired.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is ending up with a truck that has unresolved electronic, transmission, or emissions-related issues.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 GMC Sierra 2500HD?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then focus your inspection on signs of prior damage, repair quality, and whether the truck’s maintenance matches its heavy-duty use. Pay extra attention to the infotainment system, transmission behavior, trailer-brake operation, and tailgate function, since those are the kinds of areas where condition matters most on this model. If the truck has diesel equipment, make sure emissions-related components have been serviced properly and that there are no warning lights or drivability issues.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 GMC Sierra 2500HD?

This is a moderate market, so you can buy now if the right truck is priced well and checks out cleanly.

• Deal availability: 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,958 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.97% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 76.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $49,702, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 GMC Sierra 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $49,708 sits slightly below last year's $52,865.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more selectively today but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy a truck with strong condition, clean history, and desirable equipment so it stands out when you list it later. Well-kept examples should hold up better than trucks with unresolved mechanical or cosmetic issues.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
