Used 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD for Sale nearPhoenix, AZ

How much does the 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD cost?

Prices have softened 9.80% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,035 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD a good car?

Generally — you’re looking at a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating, which points to a truck that resonates with owners and also scores well with our testers. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its smooth and powerful ride, its comfort, and its feature set, and many also call out the value of the Black Diamond Package. The overview also frames it as a heavy-duty pickup that goes beyond towing and hauling, with attention to off-road ability, design, infotainment, trailering technology, and safety.

The trade-offs are clear: it is slightly down on power compared with rivals, its interior is not as nice as competitors’, and it gives up some towing and hauling capability to key alternatives. Even so, the market still shows 32.9% of listings as good or great deals, which leaves room for value-minded shoppers.

Is the 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a truck that feels dependable in daily use, with drivers highlighting a smooth, powerful ride and comfort that makes it easy to live with over time. That kind of praise matters when you’re shopping used, because it suggests the truck can feel reassuring rather than merely capable.

The expert review also describes the powertrains as strong performers, and the Duramax diesel with the Allison 10-speed automatic is called out as an extremely capable combination. GMC also pays for your first scheduled maintenance visit, which is a nice ownership perk.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that quality issues and dealer-condition concerns can still show up, so a careful inspection and clean history report matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not guarantee a clean individual truck. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on body condition, interior wear, and whether the truck’s equipment matches the trim level and price. If you’re shopping a higher-trim example, make sure the added features actually work as intended and that the truck has been used and maintained in a way that fits its asking price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Pro trim is aimed at fleet and work use, with no leather or fancy tech, while the SLE and SLT add more comfort for mainstream buyers. The AT4 is the off-road-focused choice, and the Denali is the luxury-oriented trim; the AT4 and Denali are crew-cab only.
• Powertrain: The truck offers strong 6.6-liter V8 gas and turbodiesel options, and the Duramax diesel pairs with an Allison 10-speed automatic. The diesel setup is described as abundant in power and extremely capable, though the truck is still not the most capable in its class.
• Safety package: Available driver-assistance features include automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic warning, following distance indicator, hill-descent control, and front and rear park assist. Standard items include HD Surround Vision, a rear-seat reminder system, driver Safety Alert Seat, and Teen Driver.
• Infotainment: Depending on trim, you get a 7-inch or 8-inch touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on SLT and above, available on SLE, and not offered on the base Pro trim. A navigation system is standard on Denali and available on SLT and AT4.
• Fuel efficiency: During testing, the truck averaged an indicated 14.4 mpg in combined city and highway driving while not towing.

Which 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD trim should I buy?

The 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD is offered in 5 trim levels: Pro, SLE, SLT, AT4, Denali.

Here's the short version:

• Pro: This is the work-focused starting point, and it makes sense if you want big capability without extra frills. It skips leather and fancy tech, so it’s best if you care more about utility than comfort.
• SLE: This trim adds some creature comforts and is the first step toward a more everyday-friendly truck. It’s a sensible choice if you want a better balance of price and equipment.
• SLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more mainstream appeal and unlocks wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. If you want a truck that feels more modern without jumping to luxury pricing, this is the one to target.
• AT4: This is the off-road-oriented pick, with equipment such as an automatic-locking rear differential, a two-speed transfer case, off-road and tow/haul modes, skid plates, all-terrain tires, and off-road suspension hardware. Choose it if you want rugged capability and a more distinctive look.
• Denali: This is the luxury trim, with the most upscale positioning and standard navigation. It makes sense if you want the most premium version of the Sierra 2500HD and are willing to pay for it.

Safety and driver-assistance features vary by trim, so it’s worth checking exactly which systems are included on the truck you’re considering.

If you find a listing below $50,537, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $50,537 sits slightly below last year's $56,025.

That softer pricing suggests the truck has moved into a more buyer-friendly phase, which can help you if you’re shopping now but may pressure future resale if the market stays loose. For a seller, the key takeaway is that pricing competitively matters more when the market has already cooled.

At the same time, the Sierra 2500HD still has appeal because it combines capability with comfort and technology, which helps keep it relevant to a broad used-truck audience. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD safe?

The 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD is not crash-tested by NHTSA or IIHS because of its high gross vehicle weight rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Sierra 2500HD is available with automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic warning, following distance indicator, hill-descent control, and front and rear park assist. Standard equipment includes HD Surround Vision, a rear-seat reminder system, driver Safety Alert Seat, and Teen Driver.

The review also notes that the truck’s sheer mass makes it both safe and unsafe at the same time, which is why the camera systems and driver aids matter so much. For used buyers, the safest choice is to prioritize trucks equipped with as many of those systems as possible.

Should I buy a 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.80% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The expert review highlights a truck that balances capability with off-road ability, design, infotainment, trailering technology, and safety.

The bottom line: The 2022 is a strong pick if you want a heavy-duty truck that blends capability with more everyday usability, especially if you value features and flexibility. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to shop carefully and compare listings against nearby model years to see whether a lower-mileage or better-equipped alternative gives you more truck for the money.
