How much does the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E cost?

Prices have softened 6.54% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 425 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 4.8/5, and the expert rating is 7.8/10. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Owners consistently praise the stylish design, impressive performance, and advanced technology. They also call out the comfortable interior and user-friendly features, which makes the Mach-E appealing if you want an EV that feels more engaging than purely utilitarian.

The main trade-off is the poor ergonomic design, and some owners also mention charging options and software issues. In practical terms, this is a good fit if you want a sporty, tech-forward electric crossover rather than the most straightforward cabin layout.

With 39.1% of listings priced as good or great deals, there’s enough market activity to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a reliable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with praise for the car’s comfortable interior and user-friendly features. The expert drive notes that the basic adaptive cruise control system kept pace with traffic reliably, and its automated lane centering was one of the smoothest in a mainstream vehicle.

Ford also says the car ships with the hardware for Active Drive Assist, which can be added later via software update on equipped vehicles. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure software, charging behavior, and any added driver-assistance features have been properly maintained and updated.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report, confirm whether the car has had any recalls or software updates, and inspect the charging equipment and ports carefully. Pay close attention to cabin ergonomics, infotainment operation, and whether the driver-assistance features work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin uses a minimalist layout with a massive infotainment touchscreen, and even the top trims rely on synthetic upholstery rather than leather. First Edition models add red brake calipers, brushed aluminum pedals, and unique kickplates, but the main benefit was early production access rather than a major equipment upgrade.
• Powertrain: The standard setup is rear-wheel drive, and the base Select model makes 266 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive is available, and the most potent setup is the GT Performance Edition with 480 hp and 634 lb-ft.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assist features include automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, post-collision braking, reverse sensing, reverse automatic braking, adaptive cruise control with automated lane centering, traffic-sign recognition, and evasive steering assist. A 360-degree camera system is standard on higher trim levels, and Active Drive Assist is standard on California Route 1, Premium, and First Edition, but only part of a package on Select.
• Infotainment: The Mach-E uses Sync 4 with a 15.5-inch touchscreen, a 10.2-inch instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and over-the-air software update capability.
• Range & charging: The Standard Range battery pack is 68 kilowatt-hours, and the Extended Range pack is 88 kWh. DC fast charging is standard, with a maximum rate of 150 kilowatts, and Ford says 10% to 80% charging can take 38 minutes. Ford also includes a cable for 240-volt home charging.
• Battery health: On a used EV, you should check battery state-of-health, ask how the car has typically been charged at home versus on DC fast charging, and confirm how much of the battery warranty remains.

Which 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E trim should I buy?

The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E is offered in 4 trim levels: Select, California Route 1, Premium, and GT.

Here's the short version:

• Select: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Mach-E experience with the standard driver-assistance suite and the base rear-wheel-drive setup. It makes the most sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model and are comfortable skipping some of the higher-trim convenience features.
• California Route 1: This trim is aimed at buyers who want a more range-focused setup and standard Active Drive Assist. It’s a strong choice if you want a better-equipped Mach-E without jumping all the way to the performance-oriented GT.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more upscale feel and includes the stronger equipment mix that matches the test car’s general setup. If you want the sweet spot between comfort, features, and everyday appeal, this is the one to target.
• GT: This is the performance trim, with the most powerful powertrain and the most aggressive character. Choose it if you care most about acceleration and want the top-end Mach-E experience.

Active Drive Assist is standard on California Route 1, Premium, and First Edition, and part of a package on Select.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 39.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 425 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.54% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,794, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E's resale value?

The current average of $22,759 sits slightly below last year's $24,351.

That price movement suggests the market has softened, which can make the car more attractive to used buyers today but less favorable for a future seller trying to maximize return. If you buy now, you’re entering at a lower average price than last year’s level, which helps cushion depreciation risk.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E safe?

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance features include automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, post-collision braking, a reverse sensing system, reverse automatic braking, adaptive cruise control with automated lane centering, traffic-sign recognition, and evasive steering assist. A 360-degree camera system is also standard on higher trim levels.

Active Drive Assist is standard on the California Route 1, Premium, and First Edition trim levels, and it is part of a package on the Select trim level. Ford says it will add automated acceleration, braking, and steering on designated divided highways, with a driver-facing camera to monitor distraction.

Because it just launched, crash-test ratings from NHTSA and IIHS aren’t available yet for the Mach-E.

Should I buy a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 39.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.54% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 model is the launch-year Mach-E, so you’re getting the original version of Ford’s Mustang-branded EV with its sporty styling and strong feature set.

The bottom line: If you want the lowest used-price entry into the Mach-E lineup and you’re comfortable checking a launch-year EV carefully, the 2021 is the right starting point. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you should still compare it against later model years, but the 2021 remains appealing because it combines strong owner satisfaction with a softer used market.
