Used 2021 Ford F-150 for Sale nearNew Haven, CT

How much does the 2021 Ford F-150 cost?

Prices have softened 7.20% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,734 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and powertrains.

Is the 2021 Ford F-150 a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Ford F-150 earns a 4.84/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its powerful performance, modern technology, and excellent ride comfort. They also like the fuel efficiency of the smaller engines and the truck’s versatility, which makes it appealing whether you need a commuter, work truck, or family hauler.

The trade-offs are familiar for a full-size pickup: the base engine is underwhelming, the interior materials can feel cheap, and advanced safety features are not standard. Even so, the truck’s broad configurability and updated cabin tech make it easy to tailor to your needs.

With 34.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s enough market activity to find a competitive example if you shop carefully.

Is the 2021 Ford F-150 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.84/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable in daily use, with praise for its trouble-free performance, strong capability, and the confidence that comes from a vehicle many buyers expect to keep for the long term. The expert evaluation also notes good road manners and a powertrain lineup that gives you plenty of choice for different ownership needs.

The cost-effectiveness review adds that Ford’s warranty coverage is about average for the segment, which is reassuring but not exceptional. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is choosing a poorly maintained truck with heavy towing or work use in its past.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Ford F-150?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any truck you’re considering, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a documented record. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if the truck has towing equipment, higher mileage, or signs of hard use. Focus on cabin condition, drivetrain behavior, and whether the features you want are actually present on the trim you’re looking at.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base XL trim is spartan, while King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited bring much richer materials and a more upscale feel. The cabin can range from basic work-truck simplicity to near-luxury, so make sure the trim matches your expectations.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.3-liter V6, a 5.0-liter V8, two EcoBoost V6s, a Power Stroke diesel V6, and the PowerBoost hybrid. The hybrid is the most powerful option, but the non-hybrid 3.5-liter EcoBoost is the one to choose if maximum towing matters most.
• Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and automatic high beams. Lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, hill-descent control, and intersection assist are available at extra cost, so check carefully for feature gaps on lower trims.
• Infotainment: Sync 4 brings an 8-inch standard touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and over-the-air update capability. Higher trims can add a 12-inch touchscreen and a 12-inch digital instrument cluster.
• Fuel efficiency: The PowerBoost hybrid returns 25 mpg combined with rear-wheel drive and 24 mpg combined with four-wheel drive. The Power Stroke diesel is listed at 27 mpg highway with 4WD, and the 2.7-liter EcoBoost matches the hybrid’s highway mpg.

Which 2021 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?

The 2021 Ford F-150 is offered in 6 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the work-focused starting point, and it makes the most sense if you want the lowest entry price and can live without the richer materials and extra convenience features found higher up the range.
• XLT: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it sits in the middle of the lineup and gives you a more balanced mix of everyday usability and available equipment without jumping all the way to luxury pricing.
• Lariat: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and more of the tech and comfort upgrades that make the cabin feel modern rather than purely utilitarian.
• King Ranch: This trim leans into premium materials and a more distinctive upscale personality, making it a strong pick if you want a truck that feels special inside.
• Platinum: This is for buyers who want a high-end cabin and a more polished overall presentation, with materials that move well beyond the base-truck feel.
• Limited: This is the top-end choice if you want the most luxurious version of the lineup and are willing to pay for it.

Advanced safety features are not standard, so check each trim carefully for the driver-assistance equipment you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Ford F-150?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,734 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.20% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $32,317, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Ford F-150's resale value?

The current average of $32,317 sits slightly below last year's $34,823.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive resale environment than they would have a year ago. If you buy well and keep the truck in strong condition, you can help protect value when it’s time to sell.

Trucks with desirable equipment, clean history, and strong maintenance records tend to hold buyer interest better than stripped or heavily used examples. Broad appeal also helps: a well-equipped F-150 with the right powertrain and trim can stay attractive to a wide range of shoppers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.84/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Ford F-150 safe?

The 2021 F-150 earns a good roof-strength rating from IIHS.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and automatic high beams. Lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, hill-descent control, and intersection assist are available, but not standard.

A key caveat is that full crash-test ratings from NHTSA and IIHS were not yet available when this truck launched, so you should pay close attention to the exact safety equipment on the truck you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2021 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.20% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.84/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesign brings more technology, a revamped interior, and the first F-150 hybrid powertrain.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $28,027, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $32,317 average.
• It balances everyday comfort with real work capability.

The bottom line: If you want the newer tech, hybrid availability, and broader trim flexibility, the 2021 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2020 is the smarter value play and still gives you the core F-150 strengths.
