Used 2021 Chevrolet Trax for Sale nearProvidence, RI

How much does the 2021 Chevrolet Trax cost?

Prices have softened 12.60% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,476 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Trax a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Chevrolet Trax earns a 5/5 user rating and a 5.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 8/10.

The Trax’s appeal is rooted in practical everyday use: it is affordable, easy to use, and maneuverable in tight spaces. Those strengths make it approachable if you want a small SUV that is simple to live with.

The trade-offs are significant, though. Its performance is sluggish, the interior materials feel cheap, and the ride quality is poor.

Even so, if you want a budget-friendly subcompact SUV that prioritizes convenience over polish, the Trax’s easy-to-use tech and city-friendly size may fit your needs. Good and great deals account for 31.2% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Trax reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Trax is built around a straightforward formula, and its practical strengths are easy to see in daily use. Its easy-to-use technology and maneuverability suggest a vehicle that is simple to operate and live with, even if it is not especially refined.

Its turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder makes 138 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque, and the six-speed automatic sends power to front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive. That setup is serviceable, but the engine’s limited output and noisy acceleration mean you should expect modest performance rather than effortless passing power.

For used ownership, the main long-term risk is that the Trax’s basic hardware and sparse safety equipment leave little margin if you want a more modern-feeling small SUV.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Trax?

At 66.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and any signs of prior repair. Because the Trax is already a value-focused vehicle, condition matters even more when you are comparing similarly priced listings.

Pay close attention to how the cabin and controls have held up, since the interior materials are a known weak point. You should also confirm that the infotainment system, USB ports, and available convenience features all work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LS comes with 16-inch painted aluminum wheels, remote keyless entry, cloth upholstery, manually adjustable front seats, dual front USB ports, a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot, and a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The LT adds heated, power-adjustable side mirrors, rear window tint, roof rails, LED head- and taillights, remote start, cruise control, chrome belt-line moldings, silver-painted skid plates, upgraded cloth and leatherette seats, a cargo security cover, and a 120-volt AC power outlet. The LT is the better value if you want more everyday convenience.
• Powertrain: You get one engine: a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder with 138 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic and front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive. It is fine around town, but it struggles for passing power and makes plenty of noise under load.
• Safety package: The Trax comes standard with an array of airbags and a backup camera. The LT Convenience Package adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path detection, and rear parking sensors. Even with that package, the Trax still lacks many driver-assistance features that rivals offer.
• Infotainment: Every trim gets a 7-inch touchscreen with Chevrolet Infotainment 3, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, voice control, and an available WiFi hotspot. The system is one of the Trax’s strongest points because it is easy to use and has clear menus.
• Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive model returns 26 mpg city, 31 highway, 28 combined, while the all-wheel-drive version returns 24 mpg city, 29 highway, 26 combined.

Which 2021 Chevrolet Trax trim should I buy?

The 2021 Chevrolet Trax is offered in 2 trim levels: LS and LT.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Trax experience with the 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a WiFi hotspot, and the basic convenience features you need. It makes sense if your priority is keeping the purchase price down.
• LT: This is the better-value choice because it adds meaningful everyday upgrades like remote start, roof rails, heated power-adjustable mirrors, upgraded seating materials, and more available convenience and safety equipment. If you want the Trax to feel less bare-bones, this is the trim to target.

The LT Convenience Package is the key safety-package upgrade, since it adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path detection, and rear parking sensors.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Trax?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,476 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.60% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 66.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,928, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Chevrolet Trax's resale value?

The current average of $13,136 sits slightly below last year's $15,030.

That decline suggests the Trax has become more affordable for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face continued pressure if the market keeps favoring lower-priced alternatives. For you, that can be a benefit on the buying side, especially if you plan to keep the vehicle for several years.

Because the Trax is already positioned as a budget-friendly SUV, resale value will likely depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level. A cleaner, better-equipped example should be easier to move later than a rougher high-mileage one.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Trax safe?

The 2021 Chevrolet Trax earns five-star ratings from NHTSA, but it did not receive a Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ award from IIHS.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The Trax comes standard with an array of airbags and a backup camera. The LT Convenience Package adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path detection, and rear parking sensors, but those features still leave the Trax behind many rivals that offer more advanced driver assistance.

That limited safety equipment is the main caution for used buyers. If safety tech matters to you, you should pay close attention to whether a listing includes the LT Convenience Package.

Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Trax or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 66.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.60% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Thanks to Chevy’s brand-wide infotainment, the Trax has helpful tech features that bolster an otherwise underwhelming vehicle.

The bottom line: The 2021 Trax makes sense if you want an affordable, easy-to-use subcompact SUV and you are willing to accept modest performance and limited safety tech. If you are shopping mainly on price, this year can work well, especially if you find a clean LT with the right options. If you want a more well-rounded small SUV, it is worth comparing alternatives before you commit.
