How much does the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe cost?

Prices have softened 13.37% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,947 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of used Tahoes to compare.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe earns a 4.78/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating.

The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, modern design, and advanced technology, and many also call out the comfortable ride and strong reliability. The Tahoe’s redesign also improves the areas that matter most for a full-size SUV, including interior comfort, cargo space, towing capability, driving dynamics, technology, and innovation. On the downside, the expert review notes poor fuel economy and uncomfortable seats, and some owners mention the high price tag for basic models and missing features they expected.

For family hauling and long-trip use, the Tahoe’s roomy cabin and spacious third row make it especially appealing, and the market shows 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe reliable?

Owners rate it 4.78/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to reliability, comfort, and a trouble-free ownership experience as recurring positives, with many owners saying they feel confident in the Tahoe over the long term. The expert review also describes the 5.3-liter V8 and 10-speed automatic as refined and effortlessly capable, which supports the impression of a dependable powertrain. Chevrolet also says the standard infotainment platform includes enhanced cybersecurity protection and over-the-air update capability, which helps the vehicle stay current.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a large, feature-rich SUV can become expensive to keep in top shape if it has been neglected or heavily used.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should start with a history report, then focus on whether the truck has been maintained consistently and whether any prior damage or heavy use shows up in the inspection. Because this is a large SUV with available advanced equipment, it’s worth checking that the features you care about actually work as intended. Pay extra attention to seat comfort, cabin condition, and any signs of wear from family use or towing.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Tahoe LS and LT differ in grille treatment, while the RST adds a blacked-out appearance and 22-inch wheels. The Z71 brings a redesigned front end for improved off-roading capability, red tow hooks, a skid plate, and all-terrain tires, while Premier and High Country add more upscale exterior trim and wheels. Base-trim shoppers should note that the more advanced safety features are not standard.
• Powertrain: Chevrolet offers a standard 5.3-liter V8 with 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, a 6.2-liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque on High Country, and an available turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel inline six-cylinder with 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. The diesel promises a significant improvement in fuel efficiency, and the Tahoe uses a 10-speed automatic transmission.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes Teen Driver, rear-seat reminder, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, and low-speed automatic emergency braking. Higher trims or options can add lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, and rear pedestrian detection, while Premier and High Country get adaptive cruise control, high-speed automatic emergency braking, a Safety Alert Seat, and an upgraded blind-spot warning system with trailer coverage.
• Infotainment: The standard system uses a 10.2-inch touchscreen with over-the-air update capability and enhanced cybersecurity protection. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with voice recognition and Chevrolet Connected Services, while navigation and Bose premium audio systems are available upgrades.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review says the turbo-diesel promises a significant improvement in fuel efficiency and notes an expected five-mpg improvement in combined driving based on Silverado experience. It also cites an official EPA estimate of 18 mpg in combined driving for a Tahoe 4WD, with a test result of 16.4 mpg.

Which 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe trim should I buy?

The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe is offered in 6 trim levels: LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, High Country.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Tahoe formula with the base look and cloth seats. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and plan to add only the options you truly need.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds leather and keeps the Tahoe’s main strengths intact without pushing you into the pricier luxury end of the lineup. If you want a more upscale cabin without going overboard, this is the trim to focus on.
• RST: Choose this if you want the sportier appearance package, including the blacked-out look, slotted grille, and 22-inch wheels. It’s more about style than added utility.
• Z71: This is the trim for you if you want the rugged setup, with all-terrain tires, skid plate, tow hooks, and standard 4WD. It also benefits from the off-road-oriented front-end changes described in the review.
• Premier: This is the upscale choice, with more chrome, polished wheels, perforated leather, and access to more advanced safety equipment. It suits you if comfort and features matter more than price.
• High Country: This is the top luxury-oriented trim, with the 6.2-liter V8, distinctive exterior details, and the richest leather treatment. It’s the one to buy if you want the most powerful and most premium Tahoe.

Features reserved for Premier and High Country include adaptive cruise control, high-speed automatic emergency braking, a Safety Alert Seat, and an upgraded blind-spot warning system with trailer coverage.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you have room to shop carefully and still find value.

• Deal availability: 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,947 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.37% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 77.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $39,070, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe's resale value?

The current average of $39,070 sits slightly below last year's $45,101.

That price drop suggests the Tahoe has already moved through a meaningful part of its depreciation curve, which can help future resale if you buy at the right price. For a seller, the current market is a reminder that condition, mileage, and equipment will matter a lot when it’s time to list. Well-kept examples with desirable trims and strong feature content should hold up better than basic, heavily used trucks.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe safe?

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes Teen Driver, a rear-seat reminder system, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, and low-speed automatic emergency braking. Chevrolet also makes lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, and rear pedestrian detection available on higher trims or with options. Premier and High Country add adaptive cruise control, high-speed automatic emergency braking, a Safety Alert Seat, and an upgraded blind-spot warning system with trailer coverage.

The review also recommends the available surround-view camera with rear, forward, and top-down views because it helps a lot in tight spaces. One caveat is that the Tahoe had not yet been crash tested by NHTSA or IIHS at the time of the review.

Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.37% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 redesign is the key story here: it improves interior comfort, cargo space, towing capability, driving dynamics, technology, and innovation.

The bottom line: The 2021 Tahoe is the better pick if you want the redesigned version with the biggest improvements in comfort, space, and tech. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare it with nearby years, but the 2021’s fresh redesign and strong market availability make it the more compelling target for most used buyers.
