How much does the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe cost?

Prices have softened 13.73% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,907 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe earns a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, modern design, and advanced technology, and many also call out the comfortable ride and reliability. The redesign makes it especially appealing if you want a large SUV with a powerful engine, a spacious cabin, and a spacious third row. On the other hand, the high price tag for basic models is a recurring concern, and some shoppers may miss features they expected in a new SUV.

The Tahoe’s broader appeal comes from the way the redesign improves driving dynamics, technology, and innovation while keeping the full-size SUV utility that matters most to you. Good and great deals account for 36.3% of listings, so there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable, with many drivers describing it as reliable and comparing it favorably against other high-end brands. The expert review also emphasizes that the Tahoe’s updated engineering and refined drivetrain make it feel capable and well sorted for everyday use. Chevrolet’s maintenance and ownership experience is further supported by the model’s modern tech and improved packaging.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about choosing a well-kept example, since higher-mileage full-size SUVs can vary a lot in wear and prior use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on any Tahoe you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. A pre-purchase inspection matters here because the Tahoe is a large, feature-rich SUV, and you’ll want to confirm that the cabin, electronics, and suspension equipment all work as expected. Focus especially on condition, equipment completeness, and whether the vehicle matches the trim and options advertised.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Tahoe LS and popular Tahoe LT have different grille patterns, while the sporty Tahoe RST adds a slotted grille, a blacked-out appearance, and 22-inch wheels. The rugged Tahoe Z71 uses the LS trim’s grille with a blacked-out look, a redesigned front end for improved off-roading capability, red tow hooks, a skid plate, and unique 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires. The upscale Tahoe Premier gets the RST’s slotted grille with chrome accents, lots of shiny exterior trim, and polished wheels, while the luxurious Tahoe High Country has a chrome bar grille, big 22-inch wheels with a bright finish, and body-color mirror caps.
• Powertrain: Chevrolet offers a standard 5.3-liter V8 with 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, plus a 6.2-liter V8 exclusive to the High Country that makes 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. A turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel inline six-cylinder is also mentioned as an available option for most versions, and the 10-speed automatic is part of the Tahoe’s setup.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes Teen Driver, a rear-seat reminder system, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, and low-speed automatic emergency braking. Higher trims or options can add lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, and rear pedestrian detection, while Premier and High Country trims get adaptive cruise control, high-speed automatic emergency braking, a Safety Alert Seat, and an upgraded blind-spot warning system with trailer coverage.
• Infotainment: The Tahoe uses a standard 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with over-the-air update capability and enhanced cybersecurity protection. Standard highlights include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a voice-recognition system, and Chevrolet Connected Services, with navigation and Bose premium audio systems available.
• Fuel efficiency: The 5.3-liter V8 includes Dynamic Fuel Management with 12 cylinder-deactivation modes, and the official EPA estimate for a Tahoe 4WD is 18 mpg in combined driving. The diesel engine is described as promising a significant improvement in fuel efficiency, with an expected five-mpg improvement in combined driving based on its use in the Silverado.

Which 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe trim should I buy?

The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe is offered in 6 trim levels: LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, High Country.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Tahoe’s core size, standard LED lighting, cloth seats, and the redesigned cabin layout. It makes sense if you want the least expensive path into the model, but you should expect fewer comfort and appearance upgrades than the higher trims.
• LT: This is the first trim with leather standard, which makes it the best-value choice for many shoppers who want a more upscale cabin without jumping too far up the price ladder. It keeps the Tahoe’s big-SUV strengths while adding a more premium feel.
• RST: This trim is for you if you want a sportier look, with the slotted grille, blacked-out appearance, and 22-inch wheels. It stands out visually, but the larger wheels may bring more harshness than the Z71’s setup.
• Z71: This is the off-road-leaning trim, with a redesigned front end for improved off-roading capability, red tow hooks, a skid plate, all-terrain tires, and standard 4WD with a two-speed transfer case. It’s the right pick if you want the most rugged character and a setup that can handle rougher use.
• Premier: This trim adds chrome accents, polished wheels, perforated leather, and access to more advanced safety equipment. It’s a strong choice if you want a more luxurious Tahoe with meaningful feature upgrades.
• High Country: This is the top luxury trim, with the 6.2-liter V8, distinctive exterior trim, and the richest leather treatment. It’s the one to buy if you want the most powerful and upscale version, but it comes at the highest price.

The safety package starts with Teen Driver, rear-seat reminder, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, and low-speed automatic emergency braking, while the most advanced driver-assistance features are reserved for higher trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,907 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.73% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 76.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,317, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe's resale value?

The current average of $38,317 sits slightly below last year's $44,413.

That decline suggests the Tahoe has become more affordable on the used market, which can help you as a buyer but may pressure resale returns if you plan to sell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that pricing has already adjusted downward, so holding a clean, well-equipped example matters more if you want to protect value. Strong condition, desirable trims, and a good ownership record should help your Tahoe stand out when it’s time to list it.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe safe?

The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe was not crash tested by NHTSA or IIHS at the time of the review.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes Teen Driver, a rear-seat reminder system, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, and low-speed automatic emergency braking. You can add lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, and rear pedestrian detection, while Premier and High Country trims add adaptive cruise control, high-speed automatic emergency braking, a Safety Alert Seat, and an upgraded blind-spot warning system with trailer coverage.

One caveat is that the most advanced safety features are not standard, so you’ll want to check carefully which driver-assistance items are included on any used example you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.73% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesign brings a big upgrade in driving dynamics, technology, and innovation.

The bottom line: If you want the most modern Tahoe in this price band, the 2021 model is the better path because the redesign meaningfully improves the SUV’s overall appeal. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby older year may cost less, but you’ll be giving up the 2021’s updated packaging and tech improvements.
