CarGurus Analysis: 2021 Chevrolet Blazer
overall

Summary
With 2,196 currently listed for sale and an average price of $21,901.00, 31.7% of 2021 Chevrolet Blazers for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer 4.88 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.5 / 10.
74.4% of 2021 Blazer models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2021 Chevrolet Blazer stands out by putting exterior design and performance ahead of everything else. It has a sporty, Camaro-inspired personality, and its handling is one of its biggest strengths. The technology is also easy to use, which helps the Blazer feel approachable even as it leans into style and driving enjoyment.
That appeal comes with tradeoffs. The interior materials feel cheap, the transmission is irritating, and the Blazer is described as poor value for money. It is also positioned as a rarer sight on the road because it sits between two other Chevrolet crossovers, with the Equinox offering a lower price and similar cargo space and the Traverse adding a third row while costing the same and using the same powertrain. For buyers who want a crossover that prioritizes looks and road manners, the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer has a clear identity, but it asks a premium for that character.

I love this vehicle! Plenty of leg room, comfortable seating and responsive. I love the 308 hp V6. I had gotten away from Chevrolet for sometime. The value and dependability of their vehicles dropped considerably . The Blazer is the redeeming vehicle for me. The options on my Blazer are great for me and may not be suitable for other customers but at least there are plenty to choose from. If Great value for the money.

I really like the look of the Blazer, very sporty looking. I test drove the RS with the 3.6L V6 engine and it was very responsive and appeared to have plenty of power. Interior is only available in black and seemed plain, even with the red accents that come with the RS package. I did like the dash configuration and gauge cluster, reminded me of the Camaro. Over all I liked it, but compared to equally equipped Jeep Grand Cherokee or Ford Edge it is overpriced. Pricing seems to be the same as the Traverse which is a larger SUV.

That lines up with the Blazer’s use-case: you’re buying it for style, road manners, and an easy-to-use cabin rather than maximum practicality. Even so, the market still shows 30.9% good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop carefully.
Is the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer reliable?
Owners rate it 4.88/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. User feedback also points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with drivers highlighting a vehicle they can count on over time.
The expert evaluation reinforces that sense of everyday usability, especially through its approachable technology and composed driving character. The main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is less about outright durability and more about whether you can live with the Blazer’s premium pricing and uneven value proposition.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Blazer?
At 74.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on condition, prior repairs, and whether the equipment level matches what you expect for the trim. Because the Blazer’s appeal depends so much on how it was equipped and maintained, a clean example matters more than usual.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base L and 1LT trims miss some of the more desirable equipment, and the cabin is described as low-rent with undersized screen treatment and downmarket materials. Higher trims add more visual flair and better cabin presentation, while the Premier can bring saddle tan leather.
- Powertrain: The base 2.5-liter inline-four is underpowered and noisy, while the 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder is the better everyday choice. The 3.6-liter V6 is the strongest option and pairs best with the Blazer’s sporty personality.
- Safety package: Driver assists include forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, and automatic high beams on most trims except the L and 1LT. The enhanced forward emergency braking is reserved for top trims with the Driver Confidence II package.
- Infotainment: Every Blazer gets an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Plus version adds navigation with traffic, 4G WiFi, onboard apps, better voice recognition, and two-phone pairing.
- Fuel efficiency: The AWD V6 returns 19 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined. The AWD turbo inline-four is rated at 22 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined.
Which 2021 Chevrolet Blazer trim should I buy?
The 2021 Chevrolet Blazer is offered in 5 trim levels: L, 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, RS.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The L and 1LT are the least appealing choices because they pair the weakest engine with the least desirable equipment. They also miss some of the driver-assistance content found on higher trims.
- Sweet-spot trim: The 2LT is the best value starting point because it moves you to the better 2.0-liter turbo engine and a more balanced ownership experience.
- Premium/top trim: The RS is the most compelling if you want the strongest performance, sport-tuned hardware, and the Blazer’s best expression of style and handling.
- Off-road trim: None of the trims are aimed at off-road use, so you should shop this model for pavement-focused driving instead.
Most trims get the standard driver-assistance suite, but the L and 1LT are the notable exceptions.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Blazer?
The market looks moderate and selective, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.
- Deal availability: 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,178 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.51% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 74.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,658.72, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer's resale value?
The current average of $21,791 sits slightly below last year's $23,819.
That price movement suggests the Blazer has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. If you pay close to market average today, your downside is more manageable than it would have been a year ago. Strong condition and desirable equipment should matter more when it’s time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer safe?
The 2021 Blazer scored an overall five stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and in all three crash tests. The front passenger scored four stars in the frontal crash and the vehicle scored four stars in the rollover test. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the Blazer top "Good" ratings in all crash tests, but "Marginal" and "Poor" ratings for headlights.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
The standard driver-assistance setup includes forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, and automatic high beams on most trims. The enhanced forward emergency braking system adds radar to the camera-based setup, but it is limited to top trims with the Driver Confidence II package.
Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 74.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.51% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- This year pairs sporty handling with easy-to-use tech and a strong expert safety score.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $24,228, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $21,791 average.
- It adds more cargo space and remains focused on pavement-friendly everyday use.
The bottom line: you should lean toward the 2021 if you want the better price and are comfortable shopping carefully for condition and equipment. If you’re willing to spend more for the next model year’s added practicality, the 2022 is the cleaner alternative for buyers who prioritize cargo space and a newer-year feel.
