CarGurus Analysis: 2021 Chevrolet Blazer
overall

Summary
With 76 currently listed for sale and an average price of $24,113, 31.6% of 2021 Chevrolet Blazer listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer 4.88 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.5 / 10.
96.1% of 2021 Chevrolet Blazer listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2021 Chevrolet Blazer stands out by putting style and driving feel ahead of everything else. It has a Camaro-inspired SUV look, and the expert test drive data says buyers who want a Blazer are paying a premium for style and handling. That makes it appealing to shoppers who want something more distinctive than a typical crossover, especially since its handling is described as a strength and its technology is easy to use.
There are tradeoffs, though. The interior materials feel cheap, the transmission is irritating, and the Blazer is described as poor value for money. The summary also notes that it is a rarer sight on the road because other Chevrolet crossovers sit around it in the lineup, which helps explain why it feels like a more style-first choice than a practical one.

I love this vehicle! Plenty of leg room, comfortable seating and responsive. I love the 308 hp V6. I had gotten away from Chevrolet for sometime. The value and dependability of their vehicles dropped considerably . The Blazer is the redeeming vehicle for me. The options on my Blazer are great for me and may not be suitable for other customers but at least there are plenty to choose from. If Great value for the money.

I really like the look of the Blazer, very sporty looking. I test drove the RS with the 3.6L V6 engine and it was very responsive and appeared to have plenty of power. Interior is only available in black and seemed plain, even with the red accents that come with the RS package. I did like the dash configuration and gauge cluster, reminded me of the Camaro. Over all I liked it, but compared to equally equipped Jeep Grand Cherokee or Ford Edge it is overpriced. Pricing seems to be the same as the Traverse which is a larger SUV.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer a good car?
Yes — the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer earns a 4.88/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 8/10.
Owners consistently praise its sporty look, responsive power, and driving enjoyment, and many also describe it as a good value for families. The expert review reinforces that it’s a style-first SUV with strong handling and easy-to-use technology, which fits you well if you want something more distinctive than a typical crossover. The trade-offs are a cheap-feeling interior, an irritating transmission, and poor value for money. Even so, 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still opportunities if you shop carefully.
Is the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer reliable?
Owners rate it 4.88/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The user feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with drivers highlighting a vehicle they enjoy living with over time. The expert review also describes the Blazer as a model buyers choose for its driving character and everyday usability, which supports the idea that it can be a vehicle you count on for regular use. It also gets credit for approachable technology and a straightforward interface, which can make day-to-day ownership easier. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether you’re comfortable with the Blazer’s higher running-cost feel and its less polished cabin.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Blazer?
At 71% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and any signs of prior repair. Because this model’s appeal is tied to style and driving feel, you’ll also want to focus on cabin condition, transmission behavior, and whether the features you want are actually present on the trim you’re considering.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base L and 1LT are the least appealing choices because they miss the stronger engine and sit at the low end of the feature and value spectrum. The 2LT and 3LT add the more desirable 2.0-liter turbo engine, while the RS brings the most performance-focused setup and the Premier sits at the top with more upscale touches.
- Powertrain: The Blazer offers a 2.5-liter inline-four with 193 horsepower and 188 pound-feet of torque, a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder with 227 hp and 258 lb-ft, and a 3.6-liter V6 with 308 hp and 270 lb-ft. The V6 is the preferred choice, while the base engine is underpowered and noisy.
- Safety package: Driver assists include forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, and automatic high beams. These features are standard on most trims except the L and 1LT, and the enhanced forward emergency braking is only available on top trims with the Driver Confidence II package.
- Infotainment: Every Blazer gets an 8-inch touchscreen with Chevrolet Infotainment 3, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless Android Auto. A Plus version adds navigation with traffic, 4G WiFi, onboard apps, better voice recognition, and support for two phones at once.
- Fuel efficiency: The AWD V6 returns 19 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined. The AWD turbo four-cylinder is rated at 22/27/24, which is better than the base engine setup.
Which 2021 Chevrolet Blazer trim should I buy?
The 2021 Chevrolet Blazer is offered in 5 trim levels: L, 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, RS.
Here's the short version:
- L: This is the cheapest way into the Blazer, but it’s the least compelling choice because it pairs the model with the weakest engine and the fewest desirable features. It makes sense only if your priority is the lowest possible entry price.
- 1LT: This trim adds a bit more equipment than the L, but it still sits too close to the base setup for most shoppers. If you want the Blazer’s style without stretching too far, it’s a step up, but not the best value.
- 2LT: This is the best-value trim for most buyers because it gets the more desirable 2.0-liter turbo engine and moves you into a much better starting point. If you want the Blazer’s look and a more satisfying daily drive without paying for the top trims, this is the one to target.
- 3LT: This trim builds on the 2LT with more equipment and keeps the stronger turbo powertrain. It’s a good fit if you want a more complete Blazer without jumping all the way to the RS.
- RS: This is the enthusiast pick, with the 3.6-liter V6, sport-tuned suspension, brakes, and steering. Choose it if you care most about the Blazer’s handling and want the most engaging version.
The safety-assist features are standard on most trims except the L and 1LT, and the enhanced forward emergency braking is reserved for top trims with the Driver Confidence II package.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Blazer?
The market looks selective rather than overheated, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.
- Deal availability: 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,186 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.03% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 71.0% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $20,678, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer's resale value?
The current average of $20,678 sits slightly below last year's $23,241.
That decline suggests the Blazer has become more affordable for used buyers, but it also means a future seller may face a softer pricing environment than owners saw a year ago. If you buy at today’s lower average, you may have less downside risk than someone who bought when prices were higher. The model’s style and strong owner satisfaction can help support demand, but resale will still depend heavily on trim, condition, and mileage.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer safe?
The 2021 Chevrolet Blazer earns five-star ratings from NHTSA overall and in all three crash tests, with four-star ratings for the front passenger in the frontal crash and for rollover.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
The standard driver-assistance setup includes forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, and automatic high beams on most trims. The enhanced forward emergency braking system adds radar to the camera-based setup, but it’s only available on top trims with the Driver Confidence II package. The Blazer also gets a driver’s knee airbag, but GM’s inboard side airbag is not offered, and rear emergency braking is not available. IIHS gave it top Good ratings in all crash tests, but the headlights were rated Marginal and Poor, which is the main safety caveat to keep in mind.
Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 71% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.03% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The expert review says you’re paying a premium for style and handling, with easy-to-use technology and strong road manners.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $23,360, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $20,678 average.
- It adds a more practical five-passenger layout with up to 64.2 cubic feet of cargo.
The bottom line: If you want the better buy today, the 2021 is the smarter path because prices have eased and there are plenty of listings to compare. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2022 is the better choice for shoppers who want a bit more practicality and don’t mind paying above the current-year average.
