Used 2021 Cadillac XT5 for Sale nearChicago, IL

How much does the 2021 Cadillac XT5 cost?

Prices have softened 10.40% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,012 listings available, which suggests you have a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Cadillac XT5 a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Cadillac XT5 earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise its luxurious feel, smooth ride, spacious interior, and comfort-focused features. The overview also points to stylish design, easy-to-use technology, and great handling, which helps explain its broad appeal among premium buyers.

The main trade-offs are its interior materials, which can feel cheap, and its fairly pedestrian performance. It also sits in a premium SUV lane where buyers may expect more from the price, so it makes the most sense if you value comfort, technology, and polished road manners over outright speed.

The market still shows 30.7% good or great deals, which means there are worthwhile listings if you shop carefully.

Is the 2021 Cadillac XT5 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers highlighting comfort and a strong sense of value over time. The expert review also describes it as a well-mannered SUV that continues to be a strong seller for the brand, which supports the case for steady day-to-day use.

Its performance content also notes seamless engine start-stop operation, which is a small but useful sign of refinement in regular driving. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic dependability and more about choosing a well-maintained example with the right equipment and condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Cadillac XT5?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing has higher mileage or optional equipment. Focus on overall condition, because the XT5’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained and how complete its feature set is.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport trims differ in styling and equipment, and the base setup does not include every advanced feature. The cabin is more upscale than some rivals, but the materials can still feel less premium than you might expect.
• Powertrain: The XT5 offers a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder and an available 3.6-liter V6, both paired with a nine-speed automatic. The V6 brings stronger output, while the base engine is the efficiency-minded choice.
• Safety package: The standard safety roster includes front automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-change alert with side blind-zone alert, rear-seat reminder, and a rearview camera. Not all technologies are available in all trim levels, and Cadillac’s more advanced driver-assist features are not standard.
• Infotainment: The XT5 uses a standard 8-inch touchscreen, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard. It also includes wireless charging, Bluetooth, USB-A and USB-C ports, and available connected features such as a WiFi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine gets 23 mpg combined with FWD and 21 mpg with AWD, while the V6 is estimated at 24 mpg combined without AWD and 21 mpg combined with AWD. During testing, the AWD V6 returned about 25 mpg in mixed driving.

Which 2021 Cadillac XT5 trim should I buy?

The 2021 Cadillac XT5 is offered in 3 trim levels: Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport.

Here's the short version:

• Luxury: This is the entry point, and it gives you the XT5’s core strengths without pushing the price too far. It makes the most sense if you want the style, technology, and easygoing road manners at the lowest cost.
• Premium Luxury: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds a more upscale feel and is the trim used in the strongest expert impressions. If you want the XT5’s comfort and refinement to come through most clearly, this is the one to target.
• Sport: This is the choice if you want the most aggressive look and the V6 standard, but it is not the value pick. It suits you best if you care more about appearance and stronger power than about keeping costs down.

Not all safety technologies are available in all trim levels, so check the equipment list carefully before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Cadillac XT5?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop around but still enough demand to reward quick action on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,012 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.40% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 75.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,719, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Cadillac XT5's resale value?

The current average of $24,722 sits slightly below last year's $27,593.

That decline suggests the XT5 has become more affordable on the used market, which can help you buy in at a better price today. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than on broad market momentum alone.

Because the model still has solid demand and a strong feature set, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Cadillac XT5 safe?

The XT5 earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Its safety tech includes front automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-change alert with side blind-zone alert, rear-seat reminder, and a rearview camera. Cadillac also offers Night Vision, and the Teen Driver system is standard, which can help families monitor and manage driving habits.

A key caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup, so you should confirm exactly which driver-assistance items are included on the specific vehicle you’re considering. That matters especially if you want the more advanced package content rather than the core safety suite.

Should I buy a 2021 Cadillac XT5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.40% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It offers a refined, well-mannered premium-SUV experience with stylish design and easy-to-use technology.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $27,722, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $24,722 average.
• It adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2021 is the smarter buy because prices are softer and inventory is healthy. If you want the newer model year and are willing to pay more, the 2022 is the cleaner alternative.
