The overview also frames it as a luxury family hauler that prioritizes space and technology, with more cargo room in ESV form while keeping passenger space nearly the same. What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Cadillac Escalade ESV?

At 73.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with a long option list. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the technology and driver-assistance features operate as intended. Because this is a large luxury SUV, you’ll also want to pay close attention to wear items and any evidence of deferred maintenance.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Premium Luxury Platinum trims emphasize chrome styling, while Sport and Sport Platinum use blacked-out exterior accents. Even the base grade gets roof rails, power-extending assist steps, LED headlights with auto-leveling, LED taillamps, and illuminating door handles, but the upgraded trims add more visual polish and feature content.
• Powertrain: The standard 6.2-liter V8 delivers 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and there is also an available 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel inline-six with 277 hp and 460 lb-ft. Both engines use a 10-speed automatic, and the V8 is described as strong but not especially eager for low-end torque when passing at higher speeds.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes front automatic braking, front and rear park assist, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian detection, rear pedestrian detection, safety seat alert, lane-keep assist, and forward-collision assist. Available upgrades include adaptive park assist, a head-up display, rear camera mirror, lane-keep assist with lane-departure warning, side blind-spot alert, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-change alert, night vision, advanced adaptive cruise control, enhanced automatic emergency braking, reverse automatic braking, and automatic seatbelt tightening.
• Infotainment: You get a curved 38-inch OLED display, wireless charging, NFC phone pairing, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and seven USB ports. Cadillac also includes a standard 19-speaker AKG sound system, with a 36-speaker AKG Studio Reference system available.
• Fuel efficiency: The tester averaged around 18 mpg in mixed driving, and the traditional Escalade is cited at an EPA-estimated low of 17 mpg combined and a high of 23 mpg combined.

Which 2021 Cadillac Escalade ESV trim should I buy?

The 2021 Cadillac Escalade ESV is offered in 5 trim levels: Luxury, Premium Luxury, Premium Luxury Platinum, Sport, Sport Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• Luxury: This is the entry point, but it still brings a strong luxury look with standard roof rails, power-extending assist steps, LED lighting, and the core tech and safety equipment. It makes sense if you want the Escalade ESV experience without chasing every extra feature.
• Premium Luxury: This trim adds more upscale styling and equipment while staying on the more traditional luxury side of the lineup. It’s the best-value choice if you want a richer feel without jumping all the way to the top-end trims.
• Premium Luxury Platinum: This is the most opulent version on the luxury side, with the most premium presentation and feature content. Choose it if you want the fullest luxury treatment and are willing to pay for it.
• Sport: This trim swaps in blacked-out exterior accents and darker wheel finishes for a more aggressive look. It suits you if appearance matters as much as comfort and technology.
• Sport Platinum: This is the most upscale Sport model, combining the darker styling with the highest feature content in the Sport family. It’s the right pick if you want the boldest look and the most equipment.

Some advanced safety features are not standard, so if driver assistance matters to you, check the exact equipment list carefully before you buy.

The Escalade ESV’s strong technology appeal and luxury positioning should help support demand, especially among shoppers who want space and premium features in one package.

Should I buy a 2021 Cadillac Escalade ESV or consider a different year?

• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.65% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 model stands out for its high-tech cabin, with the Escalade ESV described as one of the most high-tech SUVs you can buy today.

The bottom line: The 2021 is a strong choice if you want the Escalade ESV’s space, luxury, and standout technology at a softer used-car price. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby model years and shop for the best-equipped example rather than focusing only on the badge year.
