How much does the 2021 BMW X7 cost?

Prices have softened 13.40% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,157 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 BMW X7 a good car?

Yes — the 2021 BMW X7 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

You get a luxury three-row SUV that owners praise for its impressive driving experience, luxurious interior, and spaciousness. The overview also points to broad appeal if you want a spacious SUV with strong road manners and a more driver-focused feel than a purely comfort-first people mover. The main trade-offs are that advanced safety features are not standard and some buyers may miss a trailer hitch option.

With 38.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price if you shop carefully.

Is the 2021 BMW X7 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners also describe it as impressive, luxurious, and spacious, which points to a vehicle that tends to satisfy buyers over time. The expert review adds that BMW’s free scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic dependability and more about making sure the vehicle has been maintained properly and that any high-end equipment still works as intended.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 BMW X7?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a full records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the suspension, electronics, and any optional equipment, since this is a complex luxury SUV. Pay close attention to overall condition, especially if the vehicle has been heavily optioned or used as a family hauler.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The X7 xDrive40i starts at $74,900, while the X7 M50i starts at $99,800 and the Alpina XB7 starts at $141,300. The xDrive40i is the best-value choice if you want the core X7 experience, while the higher trims add more exclusivity and equipment.
• Powertrain: The xDrive40i uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with 335 horsepower and a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that adds an incremental increase in efficiency. BMW pairs it with an eight-speed sport automatic transmission and xDrive all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: BMW equips the 2021 X7 with all of its safety technologies as standard features, except for what you get in the optional Driving Assistance Professional Package and the Parking Assistance Package. The Driving Assistance Professional Package adds Active Driving Assistant Pro with evasive-steering assist, traffic-jam assist, lane-control assist, and emergency stop assist. The Parking Assistance Package adds semi-automated parallel parking assist, a surround-view camera, and a drive recorder system.
• Infotainment: BMW pairs Live Cockpit Professional digital instrumentation with iDrive 7.0 infotainment and navigation, both using a 12.3-inch display. Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, wireless smartphone charging, natural voice recognition, and Connected Package Pro are included.
• Fuel efficiency: The xDrive40i is rated at 19 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined. BMW says the 48-volt system is intended to improve efficiency, but the official ratings still land below the prior version.

Which 2021 BMW X7 trim should I buy?

The 2021 BMW X7 is offered in 3 trim levels: X7 xDrive40i, X7 M50i, Alpina BX7.

Here's the short version:

• X7 xDrive40i: This is the best-value trim because it delivers the core X7 experience with the 48-volt mild-hybrid inline-six, strong standard technology, and the luxury feel that defines the model.
• X7 M50i: Choose this if you want more performance and are willing to pay for a higher-output version of the X7.
• Alpina BX7: This is the most exclusive and expensive version, and BMW reserves many of the X7’s most decadent features for it.

BMW says advanced safety features are not standard, so you should pay close attention to the available driver-assistance packages when comparing trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 BMW X7?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the right one.

• Deal availability: 38.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,157 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.40% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 81.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $35,620, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 BMW X7's resale value?

The current average of $35,620 sits slightly below last year's $41,133.

That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the X7 more attractive to used buyers today. For a future seller, the current pricing trend means you may need to lean on condition, mileage, and equipment to protect value. Well-kept examples with desirable options should hold up better than neglected ones, especially in a luxury SUV segment where shoppers compare closely.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 BMW X7 safe?

The 2021 BMW X7 earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

BMW equips the 2021 X7 with all of its safety technologies as standard features, except for what you get in the optional Driving Assistance Professional Package and the Parking Assistance Package. Add the Driving Assistance Professional Package, and you get Active Driving Assistant Pro with evasive-steering assist, traffic-jam assist, lane-control assist, and emergency stop assist, plus an extended version of traffic-jam assist with partially automated steering input on limited-access highways at speeds under 40 mph. The Parking Assistance Package adds semi-automated parallel parking assist, a surround-view camera, and a drive recorder system.

The expert review says the system works well overall, but lane-maintenance behavior can be reactive in some situations and the automated lane-changing function can feel abrupt. That means you should pay close attention to whether a used example has the safety package you want, especially if you expect the most advanced driver assistance features.

Should I buy a 2021 BMW X7 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 38.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.40% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 model adds a 48-volt mild-hybrid powertrain for the xDrive40i and brings Android Auto into the infotainment mix.

The bottom line: The 2021 BMW X7 is the right pick if you want the updated powertrain and tech changes, plus a market that currently favors shoppers more than sellers. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may still be worth comparing, but the 2021 stands out as the better-balanced choice for most buyers who want the latest version of this SUV’s core strengths.
