Used 2021 BMW M3 for Sale nearSacramento, CA

How much does the 2021 BMW M3 cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 109 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2021 BMW M3 a good car?

It is a strong choice if you want a luxury performance sedan that prioritizes driving excitement over everyday softness, and the numbers back that up with a 3.7/5 user rating and a 6.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

The 2021 BMW M3 stands out as a car that can feel calm in everyday driving and ferocious when pushed hard, and it is presented as a true driver’s car that rewards spirited back-road driving and track use. The trade-offs are real: the ride quality is poor, fuel economy is poor, and cargo space is limited. If you want a performance sedan with a manual transmission and a more involved driving experience, those compromises may be acceptable.

There are 35.8% good or great deals in the market, which suggests you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 BMW M3 reliable?

The 2021 BMW M3 is built around a powerful twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six and a chassis tuned for serious performance, so it is best approached as a high-strung enthusiast car rather than a low-stress commuter. The expert test drive data emphasizes that it is “multiple cars in one,” with a docile side for daily use and a ferocious side when you push it hard.

Its performance hardware is extensive, and the expert notes that the car is capable of far more than you can safely use on public roads. That kind of capability is part of the appeal, but it also means the car asks more of its owner than a typical sedan. The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which is a small ownership perk.

For used buyers, the long-term risk is that a car this capable may have been driven hard, so maintenance history and condition matter more than mileage alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 BMW M3?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any car you’re considering and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a performance sedan that may have seen spirited use. Focus on signs of hard driving, uneven wear, and any evidence that maintenance has been skipped. If the car has been modified, make sure you understand exactly what was changed and whether it affects warranty or reliability.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The standard M3 brings a manual transmission, while the Competition version adds more power and an automatic transmission. The base car is the one to focus on if you want the most involvement, while the Competition suits you if you want the quicker, more automatic-focused setup.
• Powertrain: The standard model uses a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six with 473 horsepower and a six-speed manual transmission. The Competition version uses the same engine with 503 hp and an eight-speed automatic, and it is the one tied to the higher-output setup.
• Safety package: BMW’s standard driver-aid suite includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, drowsy driver monitoring, post-crash braking, and BMW Assist eCall. The Driving Assistance Professional Package is available only on the Competition model and adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, extended traffic jam assistance, lane-centering assistance, evasive steering assistance, and emergency stop assistance.
• Infotainment: The M3 uses iDrive 7.0 with a touchscreen and voice recognition, and it includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system is quick to respond, and the voice controls work especially well.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert data says fuel economy is poor, and the base M3 is described as dropping to 19 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2021 BMW M3 trim should I buy?

The 2021 BMW M3 is offered in 2 trim levels: M3 and M3 Competition.

Here's the short version:

• M3: This is the one to choose if you want the most engaging version of the car, because it comes with the six-speed manual transmission and the standard 473-horsepower setup. It is the better fit if you value driver involvement more than outright convenience.
• M3 Competition: This is the better-value choice if you want the stronger performance package and are fine with the automatic transmission. It adds more power and is the version tied to the available advanced driver-assistance package, so it suits you if you want the quickest and most feature-rich setup.

The safety-package trim note is simple: the Driving Assistance Professional Package is only available on the M3 Competition.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 BMW M3?

• Inventory: There are 109 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 80.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $67,235, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 BMW M3's resale value?

The current average of $69,166 sits slightly above last year's $69,027.

That small increase suggests the M3 has been holding value rather than sliding sharply, which is a good sign if you plan to sell later. The market looks stable enough that you should not expect dramatic depreciation in the near term. If you keep the car clean, documented, and unmodified, you should be in a better position when it is time to trade or sell.

Should I buy a 2021 BMW M3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• The 2021 stands out as a true driver’s car with a manual transmission available and a personality that can be calm in daily driving and ferocious when pushed hard.

The bottom line: If you want the most engaging version of the M3 with a strong mix of performance and everyday usability, the 2021 is a compelling pick. If you are more price-sensitive, you should still shop carefully and focus on condition, history, and the best-maintained example you can find.
