overall

Summary
With 92 currently listed for sale near Dallas, TX and an average price of $25,894, 37.0% of 2021 Acura RDXs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Acura RDX 4.69 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.17 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2021 Acura RDX stands out as a compact luxury crossover SUV that blends size, utility, quality, safety, technology, performance, and value into an appealing package. It also reflects Acura’s latest exterior styling and interior design philosophies, along with the completely rethought True Touch Interface infotainment system, giving it a more modern feel than its predecessor. Acura says the RDX is the bestselling model in its segment and one of the bestselling luxury vehicles in America, which helps explain its broad appeal.
Behind the wheel, the 2021 Acura RDX is notable for great handling, and it is also described as comfortable. Those strengths make it attractive to buyers who want a luxury SUV that feels engaging without giving up everyday usability. The value proposition is another major draw, with the RDX singled out for excellent value for money.
There are tradeoffs, though. The technology is described as unintuitive, and cargo space is limited. Even so, the 2021 Acura RDX remains compelling because it combines a polished cabin, strong driving dynamics, and a well-rounded overall character in a segment where those qualities matter a great deal.

Confident, quick, and clean — the right move I bought a 2021 Acura RDX A-Spec after a long stretch of research, quotes, and test drives. Came from a 2015 Mazda6—solid, efficient—but I was ready for something with more presence and power. The RDX gave me that without stepping into overpriced territory. The turbo delivers. Paired with the 10-speed, it moves when I need it, cruises when I don’t. Sport mode plus paddles gives just enough edge without trying too hard. The ride feels tight and grounded, and the A-Spec trim looks clean and confident—no chrome, no fluff. Inside, it’s a clear step up. Ultrasuede, ambient lighting, panoramic roof—it feels elevated, not loud. The ELS Studio sound system is better than I expected, no exaggeration. Fuel economy is lower than my old Mazda. I’m averaging 23–24 mpg mixed, which is fair for an AWD turbo, but it’s a drop. I expected it, but it’s worth noting. The button shifter is fine, but the tray underneath it is a catch-and-forget zone. I’ve left my phone in there more than once because of how tucked away it is. Not a flaw, just an adjustment. Same with the seat moving back when I shut the car off. Lighting fades, dash does a little goodbye animation. I’ve never had a car do all that before. It’s subtle, but now I notice. No issues with the infotainment or CarPlay. I plug in, it works. I’m not paying extra for AcuraLink remote start when the fob does the job just fine. Overall, this RDX feels like a clean step forward. It’s fast when I want it, quiet when I need it, and doesn’t feel like it’s trying to impress anyone. It just handles its business. I’d buy it again.

Great pick up speed and acceleration for an SUV, love the AWD

This car gets high marks for interior design, efficient use of space and comfort. On the other hand fuel economy is pretty poor considering vehicle size and throttle response. What is really disappointing is the impact of the noise canceling technology on the ability of the paying customer to control the sound of the audio system. If you want more bass tones you are out of luck. The more you turn the bass up the more the system cancels it out and the worse it sounds. Acura should just build a quiet car to begin with and not rely on electronic mumbo jumbo.

We decided between Lexus and Acura. Though Lexus scores just above in reliability and ease of tech features we chose the Acura RDX. The Lexus RX was too big and the NX too small for our needs and the Acura RDX was just the right in between size of those two cars. It has very good trunk space with even more storage underneath. There are levers in the trunk to let down the seats (a feature missing on the Lexus, if you are not tall you have to go to the backseat to let them down.) The seats also lay flat as opposed to quite an angle on the Lexus. The passenger seat on the Acura has all the same power comfort adjustments as the driver seat, we couldn’t find one Lexus with that, not even on the luxury trim. Acura also makes is easy to know what is in the car because all their trim levels have a sameset of features so looking for a used car was much easier than Lexus because though Lexus has trim levels customers can add on individual features that don’t come on the trim so you never know if what you are looking for is on the car . Even at the luxury level we could not find an NX with 360 view or Heads-up. I am sure they are out there just pretty hard to find. On the Acura we knew the Advanced package always had those features so it made looking easier. I also like that Acura has left the dead space underneath the console open for a bit more storage space, you can fit a small purse there. Dead space on the Lexus. So for those reasons we chose the Acura over the Lexus. However they are both very nice cars and I will say all the Lexus Dealerships we went to were superior in their customer service! We just liked the Acura car better.

How much does the 2021 Acura RDX cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $27,633 |
| Year-Round Low | $26,964 |
| Year-Round High | $28,913 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $28,909 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −4.42% |
Prices have softened 4.42% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,303 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2021 Acura RDX a good car?
Yes — the 2021 Acura RDX earns a 4.69/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Cost effectiveness.
Owners consistently praise its fantastic value, comfort, and fun driving experience, while also highlighting the spacious interior and stylish design. In use, that lines up with a compact luxury crossover that feels polished, engaging, and practical for everyday driving.
The main trade-offs are unintuitive technology and limited cargo space, so you should expect some usability compromises even if the overall package is strong. With its broad appeal as a compact luxury SUV, it fits best if you want a well-rounded daily driver that still feels rewarding behind the wheel.
35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which is a healthy signal that you can shop selectively.
Is the 2021 Acura RDX reliable?
Owners rate it 4.69/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels reliable, dependable, and trouble-free in day-to-day use, with many shoppers appreciating the comfort and value that support long-term ownership confidence. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the RDX is a strong all-around package, with smooth, accurate, and refined systems that are easier to live with than many rivals.
That said, the technology can take time to learn, so long-term ownership risk is more about usability frustration than major mechanical concern.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Acura RDX?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status is only a starting point. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on condition, especially if you’re considering a higher-trim example with more equipment. Pay close attention to how the technology operates in real use, since that’s one of the model’s most common pain points.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base trim starts with a strong feature set, but it does not include blind-spot warning or rear cross-traffic alert. The Technology Package adds those features, while the A-Spec Package brings sportier styling and interior upgrades, and the Advance Package adds the most equipment.
- Powertrain: Every model uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, and SH-AWD adds a handling benefit.
- Safety package: AcuraWatch is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, and automatic emergency braking. Blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert require at least the Technology Package.
- Infotainment: The True Touchpad Interface does not use a touchscreen. It relies on a touch-sensing pad, and the system is described as distracting and unintuitive.
- Fuel efficiency: No fuel-economy figure is stated in the available data.
Which 2021 Acura RDX trim should I buy?
The 2021 Acura RDX is offered in 4 trim levels: Base, Technology Package, A-Spec Package, Advance Package.
Here's the short version:
- Base: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core RDX formula at the lowest price. It makes sense if you want the model’s strong value and driving dynamics without paying for extra equipment, but you’ll miss out on blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert.
- Technology Package: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds the safety features the base trim lacks, including blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert. It’s the trim to target if you want the most balanced mix of equipment and everyday usefulness.
- A-Spec Package: This trim is for you if you care most about style and a sportier cabin. It adds unique exterior and interior touches, including sport seats, a sport steering wheel, a black headliner, and red ambient lighting.
- Advance Package: This is the most fully equipped version, adding the extras that make the RDX feel the most premium. It suits you if you want the richest feature set and are willing to pay more for it.
For safety, AcuraWatch is standard, but blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert require at least the Technology Package.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Acura RDX?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.
- Deal availability: 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,303 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.42% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 80.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $26,964, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Acura RDX's resale value?
The current average of $27,633 sits slightly below last year's $28,909.
That decline suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favor, which can make the RDX easier to purchase now than it was a year ago. For a future seller, the softer pricing means you should expect some depreciation pressure if you buy at today’s average and resell soon after.
Even so, the model’s strong value reputation and broad appeal help support demand. If you keep the vehicle in good condition and choose a desirable trim, you should have a better chance of holding onto resale strength than with a less popular luxury crossover.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.69/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Acura RDX safe?
The 2021 Acura RDX earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS and five-star overall ratings from NHTSA, with four-star frontal-impact and four-star rollover resistance ratings from NHTSA.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
AcuraWatch is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, and automatic emergency braking. Blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert are not standard on the base trim and require at least the Technology Package.
One caveat is that the standard safety suite is not as comprehensive as some rivals’, since it lacks blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert on the base model.
Should I buy a 2021 Acura RDX or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.42% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.69/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2021 brings Acura’s latest styling and the rethought True Touchpad Interface.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $24,833, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $27,633 average.
- It offers plenty of space, creature comforts, and safety tech.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $31,221, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $27,633 average.
- It adds fresh styling, a quieter cabin, and refined ride and handling.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, satisfaction, and current-year appeal, the 2021 is the strongest default choice. If your priority is saving money, the 2020 is the better value path; if you want newer updates and can spend more, the 2022 is worth a look.
