Is the 2022 Acura RDX a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.6/5 model with an expert rating of 7.8/10. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise the smooth drive, comfortable interior, and strong sense of quality. You also get recurring positives around features, storage capacity, and overall performance, which lines up with the RDX’s everyday usefulness.

The main trade-offs are the unintuitive technology and the uncomfortable rear seat. In practical terms, this is a strong fit if you want a compact luxury SUV that feels polished and enjoyable to live with, especially if you value comfort and driving enjoyment over interface simplicity.

Good and great deals account for 37.6% of listings, so there’s still room to find a competitive offer.

The expert evaluation also emphasizes the RDX’s refined driving behavior and quieter cabin, which supports the impression of a well-sorted SUV that should be easy to live with over time.

Acura’s added refinement for this model year also helps the RDX feel more settled and dependable in daily use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about basic durability and more about whether the technology and rear-seat comfort will suit your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Acura RDX?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on cabin condition, electronics, and how the vehicle drives at low and highway speeds. If you’re shopping a higher-trim example, make sure the added equipment works as intended and that the vehicle’s condition matches the asking price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes the base model plus Technology, A-Spec, Advance, A-Spec Advance, and the PMC Edition. The base model is the most stripped-down version, while higher trims add more equipment, a quieter cabin, and more upscale presentation.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 272 horsepower and a 10-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on the base, Technology, and A-Spec packages, while SH-AWD is standard on Advance and A-Spec Advance and available on some lower trims.
• Safety package: AcuraWatch is standard and includes pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. With the Technology package and higher, you also get front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking.
• Infotainment: The system uses a 10.2-inch display with a touchpad controller, and the RDX adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Amazon Alexa Built-in, and wireless charging. Starting with the Technology package, you also get navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The evaluation loop returned 20.6 mpg, and the vehicle is rated at 23 mpg in testing context.

Which 2022 Acura RDX trim should I buy?

The 2022 Acura RDX is offered in 5 trim levels: base model, Technology, A-Spec, Advance, and A-Spec Advance.

Here's the short version:

• base model: This is the entry point if you want the RDX’s core strengths at the lowest price. You still get the turbocharged engine, the 10-speed automatic, wireless smartphone integration, and AcuraWatch, so it covers the essentials well.
• Technology: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds navigation and a stronger audio system while keeping the RDX’s core value proposition intact. If you want more convenience without jumping too far up the price ladder, this is the trim to target.
• A-Spec: Choose this if you want a sportier look and a more expressive feel without moving all the way to the top of the range. It builds on the base equipment while leaning into style and presence.
• Advance: This is the comfort-focused upgrade, adding the more sophisticated ride tuning and standard SH-AWD. It suits you if you want the most polished everyday driving experience.
• A-Spec Advance: This is the most fully equipped version, combining the sportier appearance with the richer equipment set and the most upscale feel. It’s the right pick if you want the most complete RDX and are comfortable paying for it.

With Technology and higher, the RDX adds front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Acura RDX?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 37.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,768 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.34% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,858, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Acura RDX's resale value?

The current average of $30,858 sits slightly below last year's $32,948.

That price movement suggests the RDX has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilizes. If you buy at the right price now and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned than someone who paid closer to the prior-year average.

The model’s broad appeal also helps support demand, especially because shoppers respond well to its comfort, quality, and driving enjoyment. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Acura RDX safe?

The 2022 Acura RDX earns a five-star overall crash-test rating from NHTSA, with four-star frontal-impact and rollover resistance ratings and five-star side-impact ratings.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

AcuraWatch is standard and includes pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. With the Technology package and higher, you also get front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking.

One caveat is that Acura’s lane-keeping and lane-centering systems can issue false warnings and make unnecessary steering corrections in some conditions. Acura also expects the model to continue earning a Top Safety Pick+ result, but the IIHS has not published ratings for this model year yet.

Should I buy a 2022 Acura RDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.34% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• This year adds a quieter cabin, more equipment, and refined ride and handling.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $27,045, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $30,858 average.
• It emphasizes a modern design direction and practical luxury-SUV balance.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $34,497, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $30,858 average.
• It leans into comfort, strong performance, and broad everyday appeal.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the best all-around choice if you want the updated refinement and strong value balance without paying the 2023’s higher average price. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2021 is worth a look, but the 2022’s quieter cabin and added polish make it the smarter buy for most shoppers.
