Used 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan for Sale nearNaples, FL

How much does the 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan cost?

Prices have softened 12.57% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,570 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan a good car?

Yes — with a 4.9/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating, the 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan lands as a strong choice for shoppers who value space and usability. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its roomy interior, value, and quality, and many also like its smooth handling and the way it compares favorably with pricier alternatives. The trade-offs are a missing power liftgate for some shoppers and handling that our experts call poor.

Given its three-row layout and practical, family-friendly focus, it makes the most sense if you want extra seating and straightforward tech more than sporty driving dynamics. With 32.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to value, space, quality, and a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with many describing the cabin and day-to-day use as trouble-free and easy to count on. Our experts also note that the Tiguan’s straightforward, easy-to-use technology supports its everyday dependability.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about finding one that has been maintained well and equipped the way you want.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan?

At 71.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a close inspection of body panels, interior wear, and any signs of prior repair quality. Because this model’s appeal depends heavily on space, tech, and family usability, condition matters as much as mileage. If you are considering a higher-trim example, make sure the equipment you want is actually present and functioning.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base S trim uses a 6.5-inch touchscreen, while SE and higher trims get the much more desirable 8-inch capacitive display; the entry trim also misses some of the richer comfort and convenience equipment found higher up the range.
• Powertrain: Every Tiguan uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 184 horsepower and an eight-speed automatic, with front-wheel drive standard and all-wheel drive available.
• Safety package: All models get forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert, while adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assistance and LED headlights with automatic high beams are reserved for the top SEL trim.
• Infotainment: The base S trim has a 6.5-inch touchscreen, while SE and higher trims get an 8-inch capacitive touchscreen; Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and a WiFi hotspot are standard.
• Fuel efficiency: A front-drive Tiguan earns 25 miles per gallon combined, while the AWD version is rated at 23 mpg combined, and highway numbers do not crack 30 mpg for either version.

Which 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan trim should I buy?

The 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan is offered in 5 trim levels: S, SE, SE R-Line Black, SEL, SEL Premium R-Line.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, but it is the least compelling choice because the 6.5-inch screen and simpler equipment make it feel stripped compared with the better-equipped trims.
• SE: This is the best-value trim. It adds the 8-inch touchscreen, leatherette upholstery, heated front seats, and automatic climate control, making it the sweet spot for most shoppers.
• SE R-Line Black: Choose this if you want the SE’s core value plus a sportier appearance package and a panoramic sunroof option, but it is mostly cosmetic beyond that.
• SEL: This is the trim to target if you want more luxury and safety equipment, including adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assist.
• SEL Premium R-Line: This is the top-end choice for shoppers who want the most equipment and all-wheel drive, but it comes at a steep price premium.

The safety package is strongest on the SEL trim and above, while the base models get the core driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,570 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.57% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 71.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,435, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

The current average of $15,435 sits slightly below last year's $17,653.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For a future seller, it also means there may be less room for appreciation unless the vehicle is especially clean, well equipped, and lightly used.

Because the Tiguan’s value proposition leans on space and practicality, trims with the right equipment mix should remain easier to move than bare-bones examples. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan safe?

The 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan earns a Top Safety Pick from IIHS, but only on top-of-the-line SEL Premium models with LED headlights.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Volkswagen made the standard safety package stronger for 2020 by adding forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert to all models. Adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assistance and LED headlights with automatic high beams are reserved for the top SEL trim, so lower trims miss some of the more advanced driver-assistance features.

A key caveat is that most Tiguans use halogen headlights, which IIHS rates poor, so trim choice matters a lot for safety-minded shoppers.

Should I buy a 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 71.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.57% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 stands out for its roomy three-row packaging and straightforward technology.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $16,865, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $15,435 average.
• It brings a newer infotainment update and broader family-friendly usability.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2020 is the stronger buy because prices are lower and inventory is healthy. If you are willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2021 is the cleaner upgrade path.
