Used 2020 Toyota Tacoma for Sale near Connecticut

How much does the 2020 Toyota Tacoma cost?

Prices have softened 1.96% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,220 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Toyota Tacoma a good car?

Generally — 4.32/5 from owners and 7.5/10 from experts. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Safety.

Drivers repeatedly praise its reliability, performance, and design, and they also value its practicality and strong off-road capability. The trade-offs are familiar ones: pricing can feel high, and some shoppers miss features such as heated seats and navigation. In use, it comes across as a rugged midsize pickup that prioritizes toughness, familiarity, and off-road confidence over refinement.

There are 32.4% of listings priced as good or great deals, so you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Toyota Tacoma reliable?

Owners rate it 4.32/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction. User feedback points to reliability, and drivers also describe it as practical and dependable over time. The expert notes reinforce that impression by emphasizing its dependable off-road features and truck durability.

The Tacoma’s straightforward mechanical setup and reputation for long-term use should help confidence, but used buyers should still watch for wear tied to hard use, especially on trucks that have spent time off pavement.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Toyota Tacoma?

At 67.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of bodywork, underbody condition, and signs of off-road abuse. Pay close attention to how the truck was used, because a Tacoma that has been worked hard can hide more wear than the mileage alone suggests. If you’re comparing listings, focus on condition first and equipment second.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin is straightforward and functional, but the materials are mostly bargain plastics and rubbers, and the base setup is sparse compared with better-equipped versions. Higher trims add more visual polish and off-road hardware, while the Limited trim brings 18-inch wheels and a more upscale appearance.
• Powertrain: The base 2.7-liter four-cylinder makes 159 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque, while the 3.5-liter V6 produces 278 hp and 265 lb-ft. The V6 is the stronger choice, and the 6-speed automatic is standard across the lineup except the TRD Pro, which comes standard with 4WD and a low-range transfer case.
• Safety package: Standard driver assists include adaptive cruise control, forward-emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and lane-departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring and parking sensors are optional.
• Infotainment: A 7-inch touchscreen is standard, while an 8-inch unit with navigation is available. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa are standard, and wireless phone charging and onboard Wi-Fi are available.
• Fuel efficiency: The inline-four returns 20 mpg city, 23 highway, 21 combined, while the V6 is rated at 18 city, 22 highway, 20 combined.

Which 2020 Toyota Tacoma trim should I buy?

The 2020 Toyota Tacoma is offered in 5 trim levels: SR, SR5, TRD Off-Road, TRD Sport, and TRD Pro.

Here's the short version:

• SR: This is the entry point, and it makes sense only if you want the lowest starting price and can live with the most basic equipment. The 2.7-liter engine is standard here, but the truck’s weak base power and sparse feel make this the least appealing choice for most shoppers.
• SR5: This is the best-value trim for many buyers because it opens the door to the stronger V6 while staying below the more specialized off-road models. If you want a Tacoma that feels more usable without paying for extra trail hardware, this is the trim to target.
• TRD Off-Road: Choose this if you want the Tacoma’s off-road character to be a real part of your ownership experience. It adds the hardware and capability that suit trail use better than the lower trims.
• TRD Sport: This is the right pick if you want a less specialized Tacoma than the TRD Off-Road but still want a step up from the basics. It’s the sensible middle ground for buyers who want capability without going all-in on trail gear.
• TRD Pro: This is the most off-road-focused version, with standard 4WD and the most aggressive hardware and styling. It’s the one to buy if off-road performance matters most and you want the top of the lineup.

Standard advanced safety features are part of the Tacoma’s appeal, but blind-spot monitoring and parking sensors remain optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Toyota Tacoma?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,220 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.96% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 67.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $29,310, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Toyota Tacoma's resale value?

The current average of $30,735 sits slightly below last year's $31,350.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer today, but it also suggests sellers may need to be realistic when they list a Tacoma. If you own one, the truck’s broad appeal and steady demand should help support value, especially if it’s well maintained and lightly used. Strong condition matters here because buyers are willing to pay more for a Tacoma that looks cared for and avoids the uncertainty of hard use.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.32/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Toyota Tacoma safe?

The 2020 Toyota Tacoma earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and side barrier and pole tests, and five-star ratings for rear passengers in NHTSA testing. It is also an IIHS Top Safety Pick.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes forward-emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. Blind-spot monitoring and parking sensors are optional, so you may want to prioritize a better-equipped trim or a well-optioned example if safety tech matters to you. The IIHS small-overlap result is lower than the rest of the crash-test performance, so that’s worth keeping in mind when you compare used listings.

Should I buy a 2020 Toyota Tacoma or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.96% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.32/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It adds useful design and technology updates while keeping the Tacoma’s rugged, dependable character.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $29,097, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $30,735 average.
• It emphasizes raw honesty and loyal-following appeal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $32,266, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $30,735 average.
• It adds special editions and standard dual-zone climate control on V6 models.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, inventory, and updated features, the 2020 is the primary path to consider. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2019 can save you money, while the 2021 makes sense only if its added equipment or special editions are worth the higher asking price to you.
