Is the 2020 Tesla Model S a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Tesla Model S earns a 4.7/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its impressive range, advanced technology, and excellent performance, and many also like that the driving experience feels both comfortable and sporty. For you, that means this model fits especially well if you want a luxury electric sedan with a software-driven feel and sports car-style acceleration. With 31.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Tesla Model S reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback highlights a reliable-feeling ownership experience centered on impressive range, advanced technology, and excellent performance, with many drivers describing the car as comfortable and sporty to live with. That kind of consistent praise suggests the Model S can be a dependable used EV choice if you prioritize the core driving and tech experience. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the basic formula and more about making sure the specific car has been well cared for and remains in good condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Tesla Model S?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should start with the vehicle history report so you can confirm accident history and spot any red flags before you go further. After that, put inspection priority on overall condition, especially the interior and the car’s technology features, since owner feedback suggests some shoppers are less satisfied with the cabin than they expected for the price. It also makes sense to focus on how the car presents in person, because a used Model S is as much about condition and software experience as it is about range and performance.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Tesla Model S?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 371 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 8.07% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 83.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,239, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Tesla Model S's resale value?

The current average of $33,781 sits slightly above last year's $31,259.

That upward move suggests the market still places solid value on this model year, which can help support resale strength if you decide to sell later. The combination of strong demand, limited supply relative to mainstream cars, and a well-regarded ownership experience can make the Model S easier to move than a less distinctive used EV. If you keep the car in strong condition and maintain its appeal, you should be in a better position when it’s time to trade or sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Tesla Model S or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices are up 8.07% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2020 if you want a mature Model S with strong owner satisfaction, solid inventory, and a price that still sits well below newer versions. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby older year may be worth a look, but the 2020 is the better all-around pick when you want a balanced mix of value, demand, and ownership appeal.
