How much does the 2020 Subaru Forester cost?

Prices have softened 4.10% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,172 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Subaru Forester a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Subaru Forester earns a 4.83/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its safety features, smooth driving experience, and interior design, and many also see it as a strong value compared with rivals like the Nissan Rogue and CR-V. For you, that makes it a sensible pick if you want a practical compact SUV with standard all-wheel drive and a focus on comfort, safety, and everyday usefulness. 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2020 Subaru Forester reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise centered on safety, smooth driving, and overall value. That kind of response suggests the Forester is the sort of SUV many buyers can count on for daily use and long-term ownership. For used buyers, the main risk is less about the model’s reputation and more about finding one that has been maintained well and hasn’t accumulated hidden wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Subaru Forester?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should start with the history report so you can confirm accident status, title status, and service patterns before you commit. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of the body, interior, and road manners so you can judge whether the vehicle matches its advertised condition. Because some owners mention road noise and a tighter-feeling cabin, it also makes sense to focus on how the car feels in real-world driving and whether the interior condition supports the asking price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Subaru Forester?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough deal activity to reward patience.

• Deal availability: 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,172 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.10% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 78.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,404, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Subaru Forester's resale value?

The current average of $20,932 sits slightly below last year's $21,826.

That price movement suggests the market has eased, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also mean future resale gains are limited if prices stay soft. If you plan to sell later, the best protection is buying a clean example at a fair price and keeping it in strong condition. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.10% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $18,902, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $20,932 average.
• It emphasizes practical all-weather usefulness and straightforward ownership.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $21,994, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $20,932 average.
• It adds a few useful standard safety and convenience upgrades.

The bottom line: The 2020 is the best all-around choice if you want a well-liked Forester with strong owner satisfaction and a softer price than last year. If your priority is saving money, the 2019 is the better value path; if you want a few extra standard features and don’t mind paying more, the 2021 is worth a look.
