Used 2020 RAM 2500 for Sale near Wisconsin

How much does the 2020 RAM 2500 cost?

Prices have softened 10.05% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,475 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2020 RAM 2500 a good car?

Yes — the 2020 RAM 2500 earns a 4.85/5 user rating and an 8.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its powerful performance, comfortable ride, and impressive interior features. The review summary also points to the Cummins diesel engine and towing capability as major strengths, while the truck’s upscale cabin and refined feel line up with its heavy-duty-but-luxury positioning.

The trade-offs are clear: sluggish performance is called out in expert testing, and owner feedback notes fuel economy that can lag behind competitors. Even so, if you want a heavy-duty truck that can work hard while still feeling polished in daily use, this year’s RAM 2500 fits that brief well.

Only 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market has some value opportunities but still rewards selective shopping.

Is the 2020 RAM 2500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.85/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary highlights the truck as reliable and dependable, with many drivers specifically praising the Cummins diesel engine and the truck’s ability to tow with confidence. That kind of feedback matters for a heavy-duty pickup, because it suggests the truck can be counted on for demanding use over time.

Expert testing also reinforces that sense of durability, noting that the diesel’s exhaust brake helps control speed on steep descents and can extend brake life during towing. The overall ownership risk for used buyers is still tied to how hard the truck was worked, so a careful inspection and maintenance review are especially important.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 RAM 2500?

At 72.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck was used for towing or hauling. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and signs of heavy-duty use, because those factors matter more than mileage alone on a truck like this.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin and exterior get noticeably more upscale on upper trims, with very good materials and fit and finish, and the top trims add features like soft-grained leather, wood trim, and a 12-inch vertical touchscreen. Base-trim trucks are much more straightforward, so you should pay close attention to which comfort and convenience features are missing before you buy.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 with 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque or a 6.7-liter Cummins inline-six diesel with 370 hp and 850 lb-ft of torque. The gas V8 is the stronger payload choice, while the diesel is the towing specialist and brings the exhaust brake advantage for downhill control.
• Safety package: Most driver assists are optional, including blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise, and forward emergency braking. Ram says the emergency braking system works with a trailer attached, so you should confirm exactly which assists are fitted on the truck you’re considering.
• Infotainment: A 5-inch touchscreen is standard, but the 8.4-inch Uconnect upgrade is the one most buyers will want, and the 12-inch vertical display is the most useful setup. The larger screen adds easier trailer settings, huge maps, and 360-degree camera views that make a big truck much easier to live with.
• Fuel efficiency: The diesel test truck averaged close to 19 mpg over 515 mostly highway miles.

Which 2020 RAM 2500 trim should I buy?

The 2020 RAM 2500 is offered in 6 trim levels: Tradesman, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, Limited, Power Wagon, and Mega Cab.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the lineup and plan to use the truck mainly as a work tool. You give up the richer cabin materials and high-end tech that make the upper trims feel special, so it is best for buyers who care more about capability than comfort.
• Laramie: This is the trim that starts to bring the RAM’s upscale personality into focus, with a much nicer interior and the kind of equipment that makes daily driving easier. It is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it balances comfort, technology, and price without pushing all the way into luxury-truck territory.
• Laramie Longhorn: This trim leans harder into premium materials and craftsmanship, with the kind of interior detailing that makes the truck feel far more expensive than a typical heavy-duty pickup. It suits you if you want a truck that feels genuinely upscale every time you climb in.
• Limited: This is the top luxury pick, with the most impressive materials, the most polished presentation, and the strongest “Mercedes-like” cabin impression in the lineup. Choose it if you want the most refined version of the truck and are willing to pay for it.
• Power Wagon: This is the character trim for buyers who want off-road capability and a more specialized personality. It stands apart from the luxury-focused trims and makes the most sense if your truck life includes rough terrain as well as towing and hauling.
• Mega Cab: This is the space-first choice, especially if rear-seat room matters more to you than maximum capacity. The diesel-powered Mega Cab gives up some capability, so it is best if comfort and passenger space matter more than peak towing or payload.

The safety content notes that most driver assists are optional, so you should verify which systems are included on any trim you’re considering.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 RAM 2500?

The market looks moderate for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough price movement to create opportunities.

• Deal availability: 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,475 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.05% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 72.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,268, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 RAM 2500's resale value?

The current average of $38,268 sits slightly below last year's $42,542.

That decline suggests the truck has become more affordable for buyers, but it also means sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you own one, strong condition and documented maintenance will matter more than ever when you go to sell, especially because heavy-duty trucks can vary a lot in how they were used.

The good news is that the truck’s upscale reputation and strong owner satisfaction help support demand. Buyers looking for a capable heavy-duty pickup with a more refined cabin may still see value in this model year, which can help keep resale interest healthy.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.85/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 RAM 2500 safe?

The Ram 2500 will not be rated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Most driver assists are optional, including blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise, and forward emergency braking. Ram says the emergency braking system works with a trailer attached, which is a useful detail if you plan to tow regularly.

Should I buy a 2020 RAM 2500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.05% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.85/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Heavy-duty trucks are all about headroom, and this year’s RAM 2500 is positioned as the one to buy if you want top-grade luxury, technology, and capability in the same package.

The bottom line: If you want the most refined heavy-duty RAM experience in this price band, the 2020 is the one to target. If you’re more price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully and focus on well-kept examples, but the strongest case here is for buyers who want capability and a premium cabin in one truck.
