Is the 2018 RAM 2500 a good car?

Yes — the 4.61/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. It also fits well if you want a heavy-duty truck that can serve as both a work vehicle and an everyday hauler. Is the 2018 RAM 2500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.61/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback emphasizes reliability, and reviewers repeatedly describe it as dependable for heavy towing and demanding use. That kind of praise matters most if you plan to keep the truck for the long haul and want confidence in its ability to handle regular work.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure a hard-working truck has been maintained properly and not worn down by heavy use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 RAM 2500?

At 67.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on the truck’s overall condition, especially signs of heavy use, since this model is often bought for towing and work duty. Focus on how well the truck has been maintained, because that matters more than mileage alone on a heavy-duty pickup.

What is the 2018 RAM 2500's resale value?

The current average of $31,591 sits slightly below last year's $33,965.

That price movement suggests the truck has softened, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the truck has been cared for. Strong maintenance records and clean history should matter more if you want to protect value later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.61/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 RAM 2500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.99% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.61/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $30,741, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $31,591 average.
• It balances work-ready capability with everyday livability.

The bottom line: Choose the 2018 if you want the stronger value proposition from newer equipment and a softer price trend. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2017 is worth a look because it comes in below the current-year average while still offering the core heavy-duty strengths you want.
