What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Mazda CX-9?

At 65.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. It also makes sense to focus on overall cabin and mechanical condition so you can separate a well-maintained SUV from one that only looks good online.

What is the 2020 Mazda CX-9's resale value?

The current average of $19,331 sits slightly below last year's $21,295.

That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also means future resale may depend heavily on how well you preserve the vehicle. If you keep mileage reasonable, maintain service records, and avoid accident history, you should be in a better position when it is time to sell. Strong condition matters even more in a market where shoppers have plenty of listings to compare.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Mazda CX-9 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 37.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.22% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $17,917, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $19,331 average.
• It emphasizes upscale styling, strong handling, and a roomy, safety-focused cabin.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $21,868, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $19,331 average.
• It adds a more upscale feel with improved model-year changes.

The bottom line: You should start with the 2020 if you want the best balance of price, satisfaction, and current market availability. If your budget is tighter, the 2019 is the better value play, while the 2021 makes sense if you want to spend more for a newer-feeling package.
