CarGurus Analysis: 2020 Lexus NX
Summary
With 1,071 currently listed for sale and an average price of $26,348, 38.1% of 2020 Lexus NX listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Lexus NX 4.8 / 5 stars.
67.8% of 2020 Lexus NX listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2020 Lexus NX stands out for combining a distinctive, angular design with the kind of reliability Lexus is known for. It is also appealing because it brings a luxury feel to the compact SUV class without losing the brand’s emphasis on efficiency and everyday usability. Owners commonly praise the interior quality and technology, and the NX’s Apple CarPlay support is a recurring highlight.
What makes the 2020 NX especially distinctive is its broad mix of powertrains and its strong safety and convenience equipment. The lineup includes a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 235 horsepower and a hybrid that pairs a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine with an electric motor for 194 horsepower. The hybrid is the more fuel-efficient choice, with EPA combined figures of 33 mpg for FWD versions and 32 mpg for AWD models, while the gas model is rated at 25 mpg for FWD and 24 mpg for AWD. For 2018, Lexus added Lexus Safety System+ as standard, bringing features such as a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane-departure alert, lane-keep assist systems, radar cruise control, and intelligent high-beam headlamps.
The main tradeoffs are that the NX is not as rewarding to drive as some rivals and that many desirable features were bundled into option packages when new. It can also feel tight for larger occupants, according to owner feedback. Even so, the 2020 Lexus NX remains attractive for buyers who want a compact luxury SUV with a premium cabin, strong fuel economy in hybrid form, and an excellent reputation for dependability.

Great vehicle! I love it! I would just like if it were a little bigger as my so is 6’1 and only 17… but that’s the only downside. It had many safety features, car play, great MPG. I’m very happy with it!

How much does the 2020 Lexus NX cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $26,320 |
| Year-Round Low | $25,587 |
| Year-Round High | $27,293 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $26,860 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −2.01% |
Prices have softened 2.01% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,051 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2020 Lexus NX a good car?
Yes — the 2020 Lexus NX earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers commonly praise its luxury features, interior quality, and technology, with Apple CarPlay standing out as a recurring highlight. It also fits well if you want a compact luxury SUV that balances everyday usability with a premium feel. With 38.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find attractive pricing.
Is the 2020 Lexus NX reliable?
Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The user feedback emphasizes reliability, dependability, and a trouble-free ownership experience, with owners also noting the NX’s strong reputation over the long term. That kind of feedback matters if you want a used luxury SUV you can count on. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific vehicle has been well maintained and not compromised by prior damage or neglect.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Lexus NX?
At 67.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection on any listing that looks especially appealing. Focus on condition details that matter most in a used luxury SUV, including signs of prior bodywork, interior wear, and how well the technology and convenience features operate. If a vehicle has a clean history and checks out mechanically, it becomes a much stronger candidate.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Lexus NX?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile opportunities.
- Deal availability: 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,051 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.01% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 67.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $25,587, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Lexus NX's resale value?
The current average of $26,320 sits slightly below last year's $26,860.
That softer pricing suggests the NX is holding value reasonably well, but not aggressively appreciating in the used market. If you buy at the right price, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation later. Strong demand for a well-reviewed luxury SUV can help support resale, especially when the vehicle has a clean history and desirable equipment.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2020 Lexus NX or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 67.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.01% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $28,319, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $26,320 average.
- It adds a fresher pre-redesign feel with the same upscale appeal.
The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2020 is the stronger starting point because it combines a lower average price with solid owner satisfaction and decent deal availability. If you can stretch for a newer example and want to spend more for a later model year, the 2021 is worth a look.
